Joe Farah is a nutcase, right? Al-Qaida could never deploy nuclear weapons because they are too primitive, right? Primitive Arabs, armed with only boxcutters, cannot hijack planes and crash them into buildings, right? Our Beloved Dear Leader, George Bush, is doing everything he can to secure our borders, right?

one of the most gifted military tacticians in the annals of modern history," Is that what they call people hiding in caves these days?

"If al-Qaida has nukes, why wait to use them?"
If I were going to commit a crime, I'd wait to commit it until I was absolutely sure I could get away with it!
Look for the mushroom cloud..., it's inevitable.

al Qaeda does not have nukes. On the other hand, that is little consolation since they will use them shortly after they get them.

Joe Farah is a nutcase, right? That's fairly well established.

If they used a nuke in this country it would tend to unite us again. As it is now, they have about 1/2 of the Senate and House of Representatives working on their side along with every Volvo or Subaru owner in Seattle that has space for a bumper sticker. Why mess with success.

Maybe it's because they don't have any.

"Bin Laden has been extremely mindful of proper maintenance," he writes. "As soon as he obtained the weapons, he paid an amount estimated from $60 to $100 million for the assistance of nuclear scientists from Russia, China and Pakistan. From 1996 to 2001, bin Laden also kept a score of Spetznaz technicians from the former Soviet Union on his payroll. These technicians had been trained to open and operate the weapons in order to prevent any unauthorized use. To simplify the process of activation, the scientists and technicians came up with a way of hot-wiring the small nukes to the bodies of Muslim agents who long for immediate martyrdom and immediate elevation to the seventh heaven." Well, a suicide nuke bomber would be a fright indeed, but I hear those suitcase-nuke puppies are heavy (100 lb.), and they're rather large (2.5+ feet wide). A smuggled, on-person nuke sounds like a bit much. I'd expect something more like one carried in a car trunk with a man inside, or even controlled from the driver's seat.

"If al-Qaida has nukes, why wait to use them?" They need to be able to deploy their assets effectively. To date, they likely have not.

9/11 belies the notion that Osama is into high maintenance, high cost operations.
They're not going to bother with weapons they have to maintain, from twenty and thirty years ago. They will procure a working nuclear weapon one day, and set it off the next. They can't afford to be lugging around a nuclear bomb like it "Weekend at Bernie's" until they're ready to use it - whenever that is.

Al-Qaida will not use nukes(if they have them) on US soil until they have squeezed all the use out of the American Left.

To: Always Right
Farah has no credibility on nuclear issues. He also said the Russians were going to launch a preemptive strike before the Millennium because they had a Y2K problem.
Iran and Iraq have tried unsuccessfully for years to get nukes, with billions of dollars and a full military infrastructure at their disposal. If they couldn't get them, a few goons hiding in a cave sure aren't going to be able to.

Meanwhile, we proclaim Islam is a "religion of peace". Who is more stupid?
