Rafael Palmeiro, the Baltimore Orioles star, told Congress that he had absolutely, positively never used steroids, but then he failed a urine test. So last week, he repeated his never-ever statement but inserted a new word: He never intentionally used them. He said: "I am sure you will ask how I tested positively for a banned substance. As I look back, I don't have a specific answer to give. I wasn't able to explain how the banned substance entered my body."

1..If Raffy was taking banned substances, why did he bother to testify before Congress the first time? Was it something over which he had no option?
2..Raffy doesn't display the characteristic appearance of someone using steroids. Why not?
3..If Raffy was taking steroids, why didn't he quit or did he think he would never be part of the random test?
4..Is Raffy just an incredibly stooopid jock?

Whatever...
We were at a BBQ this weekend and the topic of steriods and baseball came up. My dad came up with the perfect solution - if you test postitive than you get to bat against a pitching machine set to thow balls at 150 MPH. The only problem that we came up with is that no one would want to play catcher....
what? there are no catchers on 'roids?
I am reminded of a sound snippet during the opening credits of "WKRP in Cincinnati".
"...and while insisting he was not intoxicated, the Senator could not explain his nudity."
Because Jose Canseco wrote in his book that he had personally injected Rafael Palmeiro with steroids. I guess Palmeiro thought he had to "set the record straight."

Sort of the same question if you ask me.
