So no place like, say, New Jersey, should hope to see a little flare out there in the night?

No, I don't believe so. There have been several polar orbit flight paths in which they have landed from the south. They normally would come in over Orlando and make a wide loop out over Cocoa Beach in land from the south. Spotting the orbiter in daylight was always very difficult because of the altitude they come in at. I have never witnessed a night landing until this one.

Someone on broadcast radio said this is the first darkness landing. I don't know if it is or not.

I am going to be up (unfortunately I have to work).

Oh I see! You work at mission control in Houston. Good luck landing the space shuttle (sarcasm).

Nasa.gov streams it through Real Player or Windows Media.

3 hours earlier here on the Left Coast; might be a good evening for some Scotch and NASA-TV...

Hopefully the space shuttle crew is thinking the same thing.

How would you propose they release trash out of the ISS to fall back 250 miles into the atmosphere? It would still need a container with some type of propulsion would it not?

The posts on FR are listed in eastern, at least thats what I see. I always assume eastern unless otherwise noted.

It's landing in eastern too.

On that note, my alarm usually is set for 5 am and I hit snooze twice. I'll set it for 4 tonight and I'll be awake for it with a couple of snoozes.

I wish, in reality I will be diligently keeping online the network that monitors much of dialup capacity on the east coast (the joy of working for Verizon).

As do I, I can't stand Real Player's quality, reliability, or interface. WMP is how I always watch NASA tv. The current house I'm in has Cablevision, without NASA, and of course before that was Sky, which really has no reason to carry NASA for obvious reasons.

I've had nothing but the NASA channel on (when I can get it). I can't get enough of the views from the shuttle and space station. I think the cameras and antennas are stowed now, so no more live shots from the shuttle, but it was an amazing 10 days. My TV was like a dynamic picture of the earth in my living room.

Watching NasaTV.

It is funny to watch them with their group shot.

They are trying to hold in place to keep from floating into each other.

Cool regardless.

It's a good idea to start this early. Most normal people will be asleep. I, however; am not normal. LOL I may just stay up and watch it. :o)
