From friends at ABC; Peter Jennings is near death. This is unconfirmed, but from usually reliable sources.
The ABC anchor, who was born in Canada but became a US citizen, announced a few months ago that he was suffering from lung cancer. He has not made a televised appearance since.
Aye. Just Damn.
Amen Faith, Amen....
I agree.
He smoked unfiltered. Particulary nasty.
Regards to his family.
If indeed this is the Mr Jennings time, may he go in peace and may his family find comfort.
I smoked on a off for years...not, when I was pregnant and had small kids...on when I went back to work (at that time, everyone in the office smoked at their desks...stone ages)..
But I quit for good, about 12 years ago....I sure hope I quit soon enough..this is kinda scary, about Peter getting such a deadly case of cancer after having quit of a while, and only starting up for a couple of years...
May his passing be peaceful, and may God comfort his family.
You do not have to be a smoker to have lung cancer. We lost a very close friend from second hand smoke lung cancer. It can happen.
Prayers for him and his family. May God take him home quickly.
Quitting is easy, but starting up again is A LOT easier! Gosh don't I know it!
Isn't there a really horrible type of lung cancer that is very aggressive?
(Remember, there was all the gloom-and-doom about Y2K.)
I told my honey at the time, "He is anchoring this like Fred Astaire."
My prayers for his family.
Andy Kaufmann died of lung cancer, around the age of 32 or 33. Supposedly he'd never smoked a day in his life.
Prayers for Peter Jennings and his family. May he die peacefully and be at terms with the Lord.
Although I never confirmed if this was true, I heard that after 9-11 he as motivated to become a full-fledged American citizen. If that's true, it's to be admired.
Lung cancer in general is almost always very aggressive.
My prayers and thoughts go out to the Jennings Family.
God grant him peace and an easy death. I will pray for him and for his family.
May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over and our work is done! Then in His Mercy may He give us a safe lodging and a holy rest and peace at the last.
Complete Thy work, O Lord, and as Thou hast loved me from the beginning so make me to love Thee unto the end.
- Cardinal Newman
Amen
Several years ago Mr. Jennings was in Alexandria, La. and was very kind and helpful to my then teenage nephew who thought he was absolutely wonderful.
My prayers and special blessings for him and his family.
