[history]
From friends at ABC; Peter Jennings is near death. This is unconfirmed, but from usually reliable sources.
The ABC anchor, who was born in Canada but became a US citizen, announced a few months ago that he was suffering from lung cancer. He has not made a televised appearance since.

Did a google on "Peter Jennings dying near death"... and got nothing but URLs to some of his old reports. Searched the ABCNEWS site... nada.
What is the source of your information?

I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1998 and given less than a year to live. Thanks to God, good doctors and a special diet my RN daughter put me on, I'm still here annoying the liberals. If I had not had that diagnosis, I would not have come to know the Lord and so I believe that my illness was my gain, if that makes any sense.
I sympathize with you about your father. Usually, once it's diagnosed, there are only a very few months left. Mine had not metastasized, and I thank God that I have been given a few more years to be with my family and, I hope, be a witness for Him.
Carolyn
P.S. If anyone would like details on the diet, please just FReepmail me.

It's not second hand smoke..that's a fallacy. My brother died of lung cancer. Never smoked a day in his life but why on earth would we think it was secon hand smoke. Ridiculous.

Despite his leftist behavior I chose to remember Peter Jennings right after 9/11 when he announced that the attacks convinced him to get his US citizenship. There was a pride in him to be an American which was overwhelming and heartwarming. I can only hope he will not suffer and will pray for peace for his family.

Jennings never gave up his Canadian citizenship so he currently holds dual citizenship.

Does that make him any less of an American?

Ridiculous This is inappropriate for a thread where people are remembering their lost loved ones and putting the Jennings family in their prayers.
Please start another thread, if that's the direction you want to take this. You are free to do so.
MamaB...there is NOTHING ridiculous about your feelings and grief. I am sorry that there are those who don't understand what is appropriate. They have a full forum to express their beliefs elsewhere.

Since our daughter died, I do not seem to care what others say or do. I guess you could say I know what real grief is. Don't worry about what she said. She does not know what it has been like this past year or so when we have lost 3 family members and several close friends. I know what is important and what isn't.

I'm not the one who brought up second hand smoke crap. I feel for Peter Jennings and his family as I know what a horrible death lung cancer is, so mind your own business.

My brother died of lung cancer, my Father died of colon cancer. So take your martyr crap somewhere else. How dare you tell me what thread I can come on and what thread I can't. You think you have a corner on feelings? How dare you. All I said was people get lung cancer from stuff other than smoking. My brother never smoked a day in his life. I don't know how that was turned into a personal attack on your grief.

I may be strong but right now I feel like the bottom has fallen out of my world. I am in a whole lot of pain and along with missing our daughter, I have been crying my eyes out.

I want to clear this up before it gets out of hand. I made a comment about second hand smoke. That's all. I was attacked for that. I think it was a misunderstanding and I apologize for anything that was unintentionally inferred from my statement. That's all I meant to say, that there are lung cancers that have nothing to do with smoking.

Thanks, Hildy...we all get stressed.
Your meaning didn't come out quite clear. There are those of us who believe some illness comes from second-hand smoke and those of us who don't. Neither view is "ridiculous."
MamaB...I think Hildy's reaching out a hand...I hope we can bring this thread back to those of us remembering our loved ones and prayers for the Jennings family.

I don't wish Mr. Jennings any ill-will. I hope he can have a speedy recovery. But I will not buy into the nonsense that because he is sick, all is forgiven. This man has done great harm to our country under the guise of "freedom of the press" and I will not forget that.
However I do wish him God's speed.
