From friends at ABC; Peter Jennings is near death. This is unconfirmed, but from usually reliable sources.
The ABC anchor, who was born in Canada but became a US citizen, announced a few months ago that he was suffering from lung cancer. He has not made a televised appearance since.
Prayers for you and your Ralph, Bell, May God's blessings be upon you all.
That is the impression I got---the only time I heard her reference it was the morning she first talked about the cancer...and when she mentioned "the wedding was off", I definitely heard regret in her voice...
I haven't heard anything else about him since...I did hear her saying last week that she is going to Alaska sometime this month...on the same days that McCain, Graham, Collins, and Clinton are going to be there.
A coincidence that she was NOT happy about, BTW.
So, going by what I haven't heard about her fiancee, I would say he is gone for good...
You can add me to that list. My sense of compassion for PJ and the quislings he served are not as strong as others perhaps. But, you feel qualified to judge my reactions to this development?

Sounds like she is well rid of the fiance if he did not stand by her.
You seemed to imply my lack of any apparent sensitivity training regarding the well being, or lack thereof, of an enemy combatant left something to be desired. Whatever.

Lord save us from sensitivity training. I'll take old fashioned compassion for suffering anytime over liberal "sensitivity training". Your post #303 sounded like you agree.
I seem to recall her saying in a joking fashion, that that her fiance had left her as well, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
It was in the context of "who your true friends are when the chips are down" so to speak.

Have you been able to find out anything else? I understand these things are handled delicately but Fox mentioned something this morning and hasn't followed up with anything at their site. Is the lack of any story anywhere just a weekend thing or is everybody just holding back until he passes? By your info (thanks, btw) it sounds very close.
Are there any updates on this or confirmation?
I have watched several people die from lung cancer, it is not a pleasant sight. I hope he goes on soon. God Bless him and his family.
Several others noted earlier that Fox mentioned Jennings was "gravely ill" but they have had nothing on their web site yet. MindBender26 apparently knows people at ABC who are saying the end is near.

PING to my post above re: some friends of mine appearing on the ABC-TV Millenium broadcast at the request of one of their fans, Peter Jennings.
35 year CBS friend called me Schul services on Saturday. (He is Jewish.) He said it was very expected.
Spoke with a number of ABCers this AM. Same.
Everyone is simply waiting, praying and hoping for lack of pain, etc.
