SNIP FROM NAUTICAL NEWS: The U.S. Navy wants the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to reconsider its approval of a liquefied natural gas terminal in Fall River. The Navy is concerned that the arrival of LNG tankers will disrupt its testing of submarines, torpedoes, and sonar systems at the Naval Underwater Warfare Center on Narragansett Bay, affecting the security of the nation. The Navy also complained that the company proposing to build the LNG terminal in Fall River never consulted with them. Energy company officials deny that allegation saying that Navy officers attended several security workshops pertaining to the protection of the LNG tankers as well as the terminal.
