Great moments from the online exploits of "Irhabi007", episode number 3,432
If there is one thing you can say about "Irhabi007" - an Al Qaida promoter whose online exploits we've reported on here for a couple of years now - it is that he has a penchant for overly complex solutions to relatively simple problems. Here is a recent example:
It's his personal filedump. But did he simply get this server account and upload his files to share with the rest of us? Nah.
First he stole someone's identity.
Then he used that identity to register the following domain name:
001101011010101011010100011101010011110011110111011101110.com
That's right, fifty-eight-zeros-and-ones-dot-com.
But wait, he's not done yet.
Then he used a Windows program as a little mini-browser, announced it to the brothers, who were supposed to download it and use it to access the files. We assume the purpose of this was to hide the "secret" location of his stash of files at fifty-eight-zeros-and-ones-dot-com.
Yeah, that worked.
Why anyone would download and run an executable from this guy is a good question. I guess a fool is born every minute and a fair number of such fools are jihadis...
All you content analysts out there in the audience can freely help yourselves to 007's stash using a good old web browser or any other HTTP-compliant tool, but keep those virus definitions fresh, because 007 has been known to get infected from time to time.
Oh, and nice job on the "rebirth" the Al Ansar forum 007. That lasted what? Two days before someone blasted it out of the water? Tsk, tsk.
