The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

It's hardly a unique fashion statement for a mass transit rider: a Yankees-style cap, and a "New York" sweat shirt.

But the New York Police Department is teaming with British authorities to determine whether those items were worn by suspects in the London terror cases to send a "purposeful message" to the city, according to an NYPD officials.

David Cohen, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of intelligence, raised the concern earlier this week at a security briefing for business leaders at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

Al Qaeda claims responsibility for rocket attack

Jordan: 'Prime suspect' arrested in U.S. warship attack. From CNN:

Al Qaeda in Iraq has issued a claim of responsibility for a rocket attack in Jordan just hours after Jordanian authorities said they had arrested the "prime suspect" in the attack on two U.S. warships that left a Jordanian soldier dead.
The claim of responsibility, dated Tuesday and posted on web sites and distributed by e-mail, said al Qaeda in Iraq -- believed headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi -- waited to issue its claim until its fighter had returned safely to Iraq.

In its statement about the arrest, the Jordanian government said three others suspects had escaped into Iraq.

"Your brothers fired rockets toward their targets, the American crusader vessels that were at the Aqaba port as well as Eilat (Israel).

"With God's grace, the brothers returned safely to Iraq."

The claim said al Qaeda in Iraq could continue to "the centers of the infidels."

The claim by al Qaeda in Iraq is the second claim of responsibility.

On Friday, a group with a checkered record of claims -- "The brigades of the Martyr Abdallah Azzam Qaeda in the Levant & Egypt" -- also claimed it was behind the attacks...

Thanks for that info. Very interesting. It wouldn't surprise me at all for there to be a terrorist cell, or meeting place to conduct planning, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. It is such a busy, hectic, tourist spot.

Banjaluka, 23 August (AKI) - Al-Qaeda is changing tactics, but is still operating disguised training camps in Bosnia, local daily Nezavisne novine alleged on Tuesday, quoting the American Cybercast News Service (CNS). Training camps that operated during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war had been closed down, but new ones have been opened under the cover of youth centres, the paper said.

TD #12 does seem to have eyes on south FL. Looks like a Tropical Storm on first impact (probably a hurricane in the Gulf). Water is warm though, so if shear relaxes... watch out.
