The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

It's hardly a unique fashion statement for a mass transit rider: a Yankees-style cap, and a "New York" sweat shirt.

But the New York Police Department is teaming with British authorities to determine whether those items were worn by suspects in the London terror cases to send a "purposeful message" to the city, according to an NYPD officials.

David Cohen, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of intelligence, raised the concern earlier this week at a security briefing for business leaders at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

My first thought was what a way to trap the liberal anti-war crowd into enlisting in the U.S. Army......as foot soldiers.

The other men identified by Mrs. Almallah are also key players in the
3/11 plot such as Serhane Abdelmajid Fakhet (the "Tunisian," believed
to be one of the operational leaders of the cell) and Basel Ghalyoun (a
Syrian accused of having materially put one of the bombs on a train on
March 11). <<<<<

Mrs. Almallah's life will be very short, if they have not moved her and changed her name.

Could it be that the terrorist cleanup needs to start in the police department, with whoever released this bit of information?

The Hamas spokesman, Muhammad Ghazal, told Aljazeera.net, "Arabs and Muslims worldwide must realize the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip is not an act of Zionist magnanimity, but rather the result of sustained resistance and heroic sacrifices."

Mahmoud A-Zahar, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, called the Disengagement Plan "the first receding of Zionism from Palestine."

Meanwhile, police in northern Greece arrested a man Monday who had claimed to have received a telephone text message from a passenger on board a Cypriot airliner which crashed north of Athens, killing 121 people. Police identified the man as Nektarios-Sotirios Voutas, 32. He had told Greek television stations after the Helios Airways crash Sunday that his cousin on board the plane sent him a cell-phone text message minutes before the crash saying: "Farewell, cousin, here we're frozen." Authorities said Monday they had determined he was lying, and his cousin's name was not on the Cypriot government's official list of victims.

POLICE have arrested a man who claimed on television to have received a chilling text message from a cousin on board the Cypriot airliner that crashed in Greece yesterday killing 121 people, police said overnight.

Nektarios-Sotirios Voutas, 32, has been arrested as a hoaxer in the northern port city of Salonika and will appear in court tomorrow, police say......

Four Alleged Terrorism Suspects Arrested

Prosecutors said on Thursday that authorities have arrested four
suspected terrorists with ties to Usama bin Laden and seized
weapons and explosives during a search of two Frankfurt
apartments. The four were arrested Tuesday on charges of
belonging to a criminal organization, arms and explosives
violations and falsifying documents.

During a subsequent search of two apartments on Wednesday,
authorities seized 44 pounds of a chemical prosecutors said can be
used to manufacture explosives, as well as homemade detonators,
a hand grenade, sub-machine guns, dismantled rifles, revolvers
and ammunition. All four suspects were living under assumed
names, and prosecutors said their true identities were not yet
known. Their documents identified them as Ayoubi B. of Algeria,
Hisham E. and Lamin M. of Iraq and Fouad S. of France.

Prosecutors said they were part of an international network
trained by bin Laden's followers in Afghanistan, and that they set
up logistics in Germany to support attacks on the "enemies of
Islam." No evidence linking them to any actual or planned attack
was found.

Agreed that DEBKA is a marginally credible source inasmuch as it is the public face of MOSSAD, and puts out whatever THEY want to the world to hear to further their goals. But of course it is in the best interests of Israel to keep us in their intelligence loop and to advise the Jews in this country of impending strikes.

If it weren't for the collaborating information about the 9/11 anniversary attack window and the rumors we've been dealing with, I wouldn't have given it much thought. However, if the intel is Mossad based (coded message traffic levels), my old SIGINT ears went up as such traffic would mean something is up. How reliable their intel is - only time will tell, but I agree, Jews here may likely glean more from their reports than I would.

'Zilla, any indications as to why the designated US targets were specifically chosen? Or is this list a shot in the dark?

The cities have been reported as targets over the past several weeks, particularly when the FBI tanker truck bomb warning came out. They are major cities.

That's what I'd like to know. Something's not right with this story. Also, on another thread it was mentioned that the F-16s were with the plane for as long as 45 minutes. And what about the Greek General who called it piracy immediately after the crash.
