So ok, if it was depressurization...how does a plane become
depressurized?

If the pilot wasn't in the cockpit and the co-pilot was blue and
unconscious, why did the fighter pilots see people trying to enter the
cockpit? why weren't they disabled?

Too many questions...

Too many plane crashes. <<<<<<<

Could one of the people entering the cockpit, be the pilot?

He could have left to warm up? But it flew in circles for 30 minutes to an hour. Some people can handle more cold or heat, than others.

Something breaks, in a home air conditioner, it will be too cold, the thermostat, maybe.

Everyone of the crashes (almost) come back to faulty equipment and poor mechanics.

Of course a handfull of sharp sand or even salt or sugar in the gears will mess them up in due time.

There were in depth reports on it in the main thread on the
crash. link in #1258 and 1270 of TM.

You are right, too many questions.

Al-Qeada Death Confirmed
AFP ^ | August 15, 2005 | Maxim Kniazkov

Posted on 08/15/2005 1:14:38 AM PDT by West Coast Conservative

A TOP aide to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, head of the al-Qaeda operation in Iraq and accused of masterminding high-profile suicide bombings in the country, has been killed by Iraqi security forces, defence officials have confirmed.

-SNIP-

Abu Zubair, also known as Mohammed Salah Sultan, was shot dead in the northern city of Mosul on Friday, when he was caught in an ambush set up by Iraqi security forces, the officials said, confirming a report by Mosul police.

No other details of the operation were provided. But officials said Abu Zubair was wearing a suicide belt filled with metal pellets when he was killed.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect intended to become a suicide bomber himself, or whether the belt was to be used by somebody else.

Abu Zubair was wanted for his alleged role in, among other things, organising a bombing attack on an Iraqi police station in Mosul last month, in which five policemen were killed, the defence officials said.

They noted that Abu Zubair's death followed the capture of three bomb makers and six foreign fighters by US and Iraqi security forces last week.

"Abu Zubair's death, as well as recent captures of terrorists in northern Iraq, is making a difference in coalition and Iraqi security forces efforts to disrupt terrorists operating in this part of the country," Colonel Bill Buckner, a spokesman for the multinational force, said.

He expressed confidence that bombings and other insurgent attacks "will not prevent Iraqi democracy".

Wanted Al Qaeda Member Killed

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14, 2005 – Terrorist Abu Zubair, also known as Mohammed Salah Sultan, was killed Aug. 12 by Iraqi security forces in an ambush in the northern city of Mosul, officials said today.
Zubair was a known member of al Qaeda in Iraq and a lieutenant in the operations of terrorist leader Abu Musab Zarqawi in Mosul.

Zubair was being sought by coalition and Iraqi security forces for his involvement in a July suicide bombing attack of a police station in Mosul where five Iraqi police officers died. He was also suspected of resourcing and facilitating suicide bomber attacks against coalition, Iraqi security forces and Iraqi citizens throughout the country.

When Zubair was killed, he was wearing a suicide device consisting of an explosive pack across his stomach armed with pellets, officials noted.

"Abu Zubair's death, as well as recent captures of terrorists in northern Iraq, is making a difference in coalition and Iraqi security forces efforts to disrupt terrorists operating in this part of the country," said Col. Billy J. Buckner, Multinational Corps Iraq spokesman.

"Terrorists are doing all they can to stop the rise of a free Iraq, but their bombs and attacks have not prevented Iraqi sovereignty and they will not prevent Iraqi democracy," Buckner said.

Coalition and Iraqi security forces captured three bombmakers and six foreign fighters, and found and cleared 101 improvised explosive devices during the week ending Aug. 12.

On July 27, forces conducted a raid on a safe house in Mosul, arresting six terrorists and finding terrorist propaganda, to include a letter written to Zarqawi. In that letter the author, Abu Zayd, a terrorist operating out of Mosul, complained of the poor leadership in Mosul and mistreatment of foreign fighters.

"Persecution of Kosovo Christians Said to Reveal Larger Threat"
By Sherrie Gossett
CNSNews.com Staff Writer
August 15, 2005

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) - International intervention to halt the persecution of Christians in Kosovo is a "complete failure," according to past and present diplomats who briefed Capitol Hill staff late last week. They pointed to the destruction of 150 churches and the simultaneous construction of 200 mosques.

Cybercast News Service obtained video of the burning and desecrating of the churches by ethnic Albanians, most of them Muslim.

The new mosques are funded by "Wahhabist nations," the diplomats said, raising the specter of radical Islam incubating on the doorstep of Europe in a province rife with illegal arms and narcotics trafficking.

The religious persecution also is part of a political strategy of violence, which -- if rewarded by granting independence to Kosovo -- could trigger similar violent secessionist movements throughout neighboring states and countries, they warned."

Two Canuck peacekeepers wounded in blast (Sinai)
AP via Sun Media ^ | 2005-08-15

Posted on 08/15/2005 3:44:43 AM PDT by Clive

EL-ARISH, Egypt (AP) - An explosion wounded two Canadian members of the Multinational Force and Observers at an airport in northeast Sinai close to the Gaza Strip on Monday, said Egyptian security officials.

The explosion at about 8 a.m. badly damaged the vehicle in which the MFO members were leaving the airport, 15 kilometres from Egypt's border with the Gaza Strip, security officials in Rafah said, speaking on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to talk. Senior security officials in Cairo said the two wounded were Canadian members of the MFO.

The spokesman for the Canadian Embassy in Cairo, Ulrich Shannon, said he could not confirm any casualties.

According to the MFO website, Canada's crew consists of 29 personnel members ranging in rank from corporal to colonel.

All Canadians are based at the North Camp in El Gorah, Sinai. The Canadian roles include providing air traffic control, training, and engineering services.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear. Egyptian security officials at the scene said it was caused either by a landmine or a bomb. But it was so powerful that it was heard in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian Authority officials told The Associated Press.

The Interior Ministry issued a statement saying a "limited explosion" went off, causing no casualties, as an MFO patrol passed on the main highway in el-Goura district about a kilometre from the force's base.

An official at the Multinational Force's offices in Cairo referred all questions to the unit's spokesman, who was not answering his cellphone.

The Multinational Force and Observers was created to help implement the 1979 Camp David peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. It comprises troops from the United States and a number of European nations who act as a peace monitoring force in the Sinai peninsula - the battlefield of three Arab-Israeli wars between 1956 and 1973.

Egypt is due to deploy forces along its border with Gaza to keep the frontier secure after Israel's withdrawal of Jewish settlers and troops from the Strip, which is beginning this week.

"Gaza Disengagement/Expulsion Live Thread"

That is one of several interesting scenes playing out in the World-- the China/Iran axis forming, the open borders security nightmare, the unrest in South America...

Of course, I'm just an old keyboard cowboy, but I'd characterize "Gaza Disengagement/Expulsion" as "Israel commits suicide." Hope I'm wrong.

As for the other stuff, well, there are consolations to having no children- at least I don't have to worry over their fate from these gathering storms.

Tuesday, 50,000 soldiers and police officers are slated to form six rings in and around Gush Katif. The first ring, consisting of some 20,000 forces, mostly police, will be sent into the Jewish communities to carry out the actual evacuation. About 17 to 20 officers per Katif home will be used to physically drag occupants onto waiting buses and out of the area.

Jew-vs.-Jew showdown!

I wish I understood this whole “pull out” thing better. It doesn’t make sense to me . . .

My first thought when I heard it, was remembering back to the reports we saw here on TM about someone trying to drill through the lavatory door of a plane to possibly put a disabling chemical into the cockpit.

You pose some great questions and as usual, you are on top of things with your recollection of the incident in the lavatory. All reports state that it is highly unusual for a passenger airliner of this size to have a depressurization incident like this. My TM instincts tell me that this could have been sabotage. Maybe it was intended that only the pilot and co-pilot be incapacitated and not the entire plane. I would like to know the name of the passenger who tried to gain control of the plane. And what ever happened to the Greek General's early statement of a possible hijacking. And what about the warning to Greece and the Israeli's warning just last week about cruise ships in the Mediteranean? Too many unanswered questions. Hate to always sound suspicious but this one is very strange.
