"Swedish Prime Minister Göran Persson has said that gay men should be allowed to give blood or donate organs, in an interview published on Thursday.
Men who have had sex with other men are banned from giving blood or donating organs in many countries, including the United States, because their sexual habits are deemed to increase the risk of spreading the HIV/AIDS virus."

Interesting news site -- there's a "comments" section right below the article.
Check out the several comments of "Nigel E.j. Griffiths," a Brit apparently living in Sweden. Hilarious!
Is the double "SS" in the name Persson pronounced as though the speaker had a lisp?

Interesting? No wonder Swedish Prime Minister Göran Persson is sympathetic to gay men.
Sweden of today= Sodom mentioned in Bible
I'm OK with that, as long as they can only donate to Swedes, Democrats, Socialists, Islamo-fascists and commies.
Men, who use prostitutes (that includes female prostitutes), are also at risk of carrying HIV and developing AIDS.
Sexual promiscuity is the major risk factor for AIDS.
True, and no offense to the FR Webmaster but the default spell checker is pretty weak as spell checkers go. For Explorer there's an application called ieSpell Check and for Firefox I use the Spellbound extension (you also download a companion dictionary), which are much better and powerful spell check tools.
Nope, I'm up, spell checker at hand. So what does "prolly" really mean? Is that ebonics spelling?
An unusual, still alive Darwin Award is due this Swedish idiot.
Sure, increase the risk of infection for sick people to pander to the self-esteem of a privileged class of people...
Well, it definitely isn't ebonics.
Being you are an old fart geezer like me, I will give you another guess.
BTW .... two out of nine ain't bad and some are better than none. Grandkids that is. ;)
This is beyond stupid.
Quite the opposite, the grammar, syntax and vocabulary of Scandinavian languages is similar to English. The bizarre thing about Sweden, though, is that most people speak perfect English, about half have Midwestern and the other half British accents.
I'm fine with gays donating blood, as long it is to a separate entity from all other blood organizations, so that there can be no mix-up, and if it is boldly labeled as being from a gay donor.
Let's see how many doctors and patients want to use it.
I could be wrong but..... your first error was a transposition. The second error was an omission. A fine point though on my part. You knew what the mistake was, as soon as you read your post.
Now to the homosexual "rights". Yeah, I knew it,the quick retorts coming. As I quickly scrolled down, someone challenged Persson to accept a homosexual's blood. Oh, I could insist the same, but jolly old Persson- he gets no respect, probably operates on the adage- "do as I say, not as I do".
In this unfortunate Persson had to have a blood transfusion, he would say ,soto voce, "make my transfusion from a white anglo-saxon heterosexual male, to show fairness. No, I refuse Sir Eltons offer, save it". LOL
Don't they test all donated blood, anyway? I certainly hope they do.
"Don't they test all donated blood, anyway? I certainly hope they do."
Apparently not since I personally know a family whose father went in the hospital for cancer treatments, had complications, required blood and he got Hep C tainted blood transfusion. Nice huh. Gasp
