Admin Mod -- I am putting this in Frontpage news and hope you leave it there, so people can see the additional excerpts and info from the actual poll, below, which is not showing up in the MSM article, which everyone will read. I hope you will leave it here. Thanks.

1. Note the polling of "adults", only 80% of whom said they were registered voters.

2. Be sure to go to the actual poll results summary.

Here you will see that they VASTLY oversampled Democrats, and the actual questions asked.

Note that even with the nonstop Dem lies and criticism, and the oversampling of Dems, the approval vs. disapproval of President Bush's foreign policy and terrorism, is about even within the margin of error: 47 approve vs. 51 disapprove.

When people are asked about whether they approve of how CONGRESS is handling its job, 33% approve, and 66% disapprove.

63% find President Bush likable, with only 36% who don't find him likeable.

56% find Pres. Bush intelligent.

More oversampling against Bush shows up in the demographics of the respondents: 53% employed full time, 11% employed part time, 22% retired, 14 % unemployed.

Investments/stocks/mutual fund owners: 51%. Again, I think in the total population this is much higher, they oversampled the "have-nots".

I may question his honesty in the near future, but I sure as heck question his priorities for our country. He has gotten us in a mess.

As in business, "read the fine print".

With MSM polls, "check the internals".

The RATS attempted to win the 2004 election through polls. The whole cycle from 2001-2004 was always about polls. Now, after Bush actually won with 60,000,000 votes, the RATS are back with polls.

I think the RATS are very confused. The Constitution says power is decided through elections, not through polls. Does anybody have questions?

"Here you will see that they VASTLY oversampled Democrats, and the actual questions asked."

That's how they do it. I worked in media polling for Yankelovich Partners the former polling unit for the CNN Time Magazine poll. The director of the poll is a major Democrat and a major liberal. He never cared that they oversampled Democrats. When I pointed out to him the skew and the need to weight the data to take out the skew, he just waved me off. This is why I don't trust media polls. They're quick and dirty, more interested in getting the results out quick to meet a press deadline than getting it right. These things are best ignored.

It because of reasons like this that I am registered as a Democrat. I get to upset their polling numbers, particularly during phone surveys!

And a whole lot of folks are out there thinking, "Well I still think he's honest........and everyone I know still thinks he's honest. Who's changed their minds, and for heaven's sakes, WHY?"

The left has tried to manipulate public opinion on the President since day 1, and have failed. They tried to manipulate the vote through bogus polls and they failed.

Polling is designed to make headlines and undermine the President's authority.

Stupid leftists. They're just losers, that's all..........

is it amazing that in the eight years that slick willie was in the white house there was never a poll that asked do you think the president is honest?
but then again during that administration that was probably the dumbest question you could ask.
poll answer: yes 0%, no 100% error % -0-

Mark Levin was just discussing this poll, and pointed out how smart FReepers examined the poll. He said "this is why the Internet is so important!

Good job!

I question Pres. Bush on a number of things, especially the illegal & border issues. But he is in the downhill run now. I am more interested in whom we put in the Oval Office next. As long it is not Dick Chaney (health reasons), I am open to suggestions.

Just to add to the media polling bias, here is the recent history of the "ever-reliable" AP/Ipsos polls (January - August 2005) and their political Party ID sample composition for each poll. The AP/Ipsos polls push Independents to identify with either Republicans or Democrats, only the 'hard-core' remain as self-identified 'Independents'...

This is an mixed ADULTS and Registered Voters poll, not just registered voters. Note the consistant gap in the party ID between Democrats and Republicans, strange given the the 2004 Presidential Election exit polls identified 37% Republicans, 37% Democrats and 26% Independents among the voting American public. The Republicans have achieved voter self-indentification parity with the Democrats for the first time since the late 1920s.

This series of AP/Ipsos poll result on Presidential job approval and the American public views on the 'direction of the country' was as always based on a skewed demographic sample that averages 41% Republican, 49% Democrat and 10% Independent composition. I think that when the AP poll fails to get the results they desire, they 'play' with both the registered voters composition and vary the un-registered voter portion of the poll sample. Since the Registered voter portion of the poll averages around 79% and the 'breathing' voter averages around 21% you can see they have quite a bit of "statistical slack" to play with to get the results they require...

Presidential Approval Ratings
AP/Ipsos monthly Polls
(n~1,000 ± 3.1%)

August July June May April March February January
Republicans 39% 42% 40% 42% 41% 39% 39% 43%
Democrats 48% 51% 50% 49% 48% 47% 52% 49%
Independents 13% 7% 10% 9% 11% 14% 9% 8%
Total: 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100%

Registered 79% 77% 80% 79% 82% 78% 76% 80%
Breathing 21% 23% 20% 21% 18% 22% 24% 20%
Total: 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100%

Approve 42% 42% 43% 47% 44% 48% 45% 49%
Disapprove 55% 56% 55% 51% 54% 50% 54% 49%
Total: 97% 98% 98% 98% 98% 98% 99% 98%

Note: The AP/Ipsos polls are published in PDF format and become unavailable after one month. You must be a 'premium' member to access those PDF files on their web site. No consistant links are provided for that reason. The August AP/Ipsos poll is listed below.

This is really funny.

I was recently asked to give my opinion (along with a dozen or so other people) on a testy local issue. The reporter started swearing a blue streak when the first 9 people she went to question wouldn't give her the answers or point of view she wanted to hear.

I just about blew my cork when the story aired on the local station - TWO people were quoted, and a completely [anti-development] spin was presented as the "majority opinion" of town residents in the story.

MSM to Local 100% spin 100% of the time.

Oh, BTW:

The new term is "Pollitorial"...

Injecting an editorial opinion and masking media bias by taking and quoting polls of a specific "bent" and using the results to bolster the "facts" the media outlet predetermined them to be.

Fake Polls are a key part of the propoganda machince of the MSM.

This poll has so many flaws in it.

FLAW#1: It is a poll of 'national adults'.

FACT: 20% of national adults are not registered to vote.

FACT: 50% of national adults do not vote in Presidential Elections.

FACT: 60% of national adults do not vote in Midterm Elections.

THIS MEANS ONLY 40% OF THE PEOPLE POLLED ARE 'LIKELY VOTERS'.

FLAW#2: It oversamples Democrats. In fact the sample is altogether crooked.

Here is the standard sample of an honest 'likely voter poll.

35% Democrat
33% Republican
32% Independent

This is the model SCOTT RASMUSSEN uses. He was consistent throughout 2004 with the President's Job Approval balanced between 48% and 53% while the NY Slimes and AP had Bush at 41% in polls.

A real poll has a 2 point spread between the Democrats and GOP.

This fake poll has a 10 point spread.

So add 8 points positive for Bush to every result in this poll.

Here's the bottom line. The AP is lying. They produced these fake polls to do five things.

1) To convince Conservative and Republican voters that the sky is falling. Don't vote, your losing.

2) To pacify liberal viewers and readers to think they are gaining. Don't give up.

3) To undermine our war effort by giving ammunition to detestable liberal politicians.

4) To undermine our war effort by giving weasels like Lindsay Graham and Mike DeWine and Chuck Hagel the ability to be on every morning show on every irrelevant liberal network.

5) To put pressure on President Bush to give up.

4 out of 5 will work.

Bush will win in the end and liberals who have been propagandized by FAKE POLLS will claim voter fraud when elections show them the losers that they are.

The percentage of people who say they consider [President] Bush honest has dropped slightly from the start of the year.

Damn it!!!!!!

You may 100% disagree with him, but he IS the President of the United States. It's called common courtesy, Will scumbag!

You mean there is objective truth and someone can be judged as either honest of not? And look it is Democrats that are acknowledging it by responding to the question. Maybe they're ready to discuss the Clintons honestly now? / end sarcasm

I am deeply disturbed that this very poll was just discussed on Special Report by the panel as a serious, truthful poll, and they were discussing the reasons why the President's support was flagging.

I expect more from Fox News, but they fail to deliver most of the time these days.......

Hmmmm....after three years of the main stream media, Hollywood, the pop music industry, and the DIMs screaming that Bush is a liar on the most widely watched TV "news" programs, the most widely read newspapers and magazines, and indirectly in the at best thinly veiled statements in movies and popular music, let's take a poll of democratic leaning people and see what they think.

Surprise, surprise.

A poll of 1000 adults that is meant to be applied to the US population in general is completely invalid. The US population is approximately 29 million. That's .0000344% of the population. Any poll under 10% is considered by statisticians and scientific researchers to be unreliable. So, unless they survey 2,900,000, they cannot claim any level of accuracy. Randomness doesn't even matter with a sample that small.
