Congress asked to probe ACLU: Accused of 'widespread use of frivolous lawsuits'

Following the ACLU's legal action against New York City for allegedly violating citizens' rights by random searches on subways, Congress is being asked to probe the group for "widespread use of frivolous lawsuits."

"The ACLU's abuse of the legal system is criminal," said Don Swarthout, president of Christians Reviving America's Values, an advocacy group asking for the investigation.

Calling it a "fund-raising stunt," Swarthout asserted the American Civil Liberties Union's action may also be dangerous to the citizens of New York City.

"These searches are part of a well-thought-out security plan and may stop a terrorist from walking onto the subway trains and blowing up innocent Americans," he said.

The ACLU's suit, to be filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, will claim the city's new policy violates constitutional guarantees of equal protection and prohibitions against unlawful searches and seizures, according to New York Newsday.

At the same time, the lawsuit argues, the policy does almost nothing to protect the city from terrorism.

The ACLU also contends the measure allows the possibility of racial profiling, despite the requirement that officers must randomly screen passengers.

"While concerns about terrorism of course justify - indeed, require - aggressive police tactics, those concerns cannot justify the Police Department's unprecedented policy of subjecting millions of innocent people to suspicionless searches," the suit states, according to Newsday.

Swarthout points out the ACLU also has called metal detectors in airports an invasion of privacy.

"There is no pleasing the ACLU, because improving society or protecting the rights of American citizens is no longer its goal," he charged.

Swarthout contends the ACLU is coming against the constitutional duty of the United States government, which requires the protection of citizens.

"What is in question here is the definition of freedom," he said. "Freedom comes with responsibility. The ACLU has become an anti-Christian, pro-terrorist, entity whose only goal is to get the headlines to keep donations rolling in."

Swarthout said if the ACLU wins the battle in court, it can expect a large financial boost, pointing to other cases in which the group's attorneys have received hundreds of thousands of dollars from taxpayers.

"The never-ceasing flow of litigation against cities, states, and the federal government is nothing more than fund-raising stunts," Swarthout said. "Many of the ACLU's victories come not because their complaint is just, but because the municipality budget is inadequate to match the abusive onslaught."

I'd like to see a full accounting of who's funding the ACLU. I bet that'd be a real who's-who list of communists, islamics, and terrorist scumbags great and small.

I first inquired of his history with the ACLU, how he became employed with them, and why he eventually disassoicated himself with them.
He informed me that he had worked two janitor jobs while attending law school. One day the ACLU did some kind of fellowship interview, and he was given an internship with them.
He eventually went on to be on their staff.
He focused in the area of worker's rights with special attention to the depravation of speech in the workplace...such as whisleblowers.

So why did he leave them? He said, "it was in part because around that time they established a Seperation of Church and State Staff Position."
He informed me that, "This was funded by Norman Lear and several other Hollywood millionares."
It seems even back then that Hollywood sided with the secular left.

He went on to say that, "the very purpose of this staff position was to push "establishment clause" lawsuits against the government."

I was beginning to wonder if they were going to have to start wearing diapers on their heads and provide snap shots of them and Ben Laden, and maybe an old one of them and Stalin

The ACLU is being investigated by the FBI and now this group, Christians Reviving America's Values, is asking for a Congressional probe into the organization. There is hope.

Anyone think Congress can be bothered to do this while they are busy with baseball and GITMO?

Watched the first 2 minutes of Bill O'Reilly on Fox last night. He pulled no punches about the ACLU and listed just some of their sins against the culture and society of US.

IT'S ABOUT FRIKKIN TIME! Full disclosure exposing what radical elements donate to the ACLU and what "altruistic foundations" fund the ACLU, and what federal funds and/or legislation are involved in supporting the most antagonistic and subversive entity in America. And BY WHAT authority can the autonomous ACLU impose its tyranny through the U.S. legal system?

CRIPES!

The only solution is to hold the ACLU and their supporters responsible for the results of their actions. If someone dies as a result of a backpack bomb on a train or bus all members of the ACLU should be indited for murder.

If there are consequences for actions then the actions will be resonable.

Perhaps it's time that a committee be appointed by congress to determine just where the loyalty of the ACLU lies.

The ACLU's top leadership wants to destroy the USA. It wraps itself in (a few highly selective) "civil liberties" but actually seeks to destroy all civil liberties, using our own laws to annihilate this nation..

Historically, the ACLU was the most successful and long-lived of Joseph Stalin's front groups in the US, and would be a footnote in history books, a political fossil, if not so unbelievably seductive, deceitful, well-funded, and dangerous.

Trust me on this.
