I can understand it. The performance 4-door sedan is the market right now. The Challenger will be the 2-door, so you can have it your way. :-)
The Camaro will probably have the LS2, and the Challenger will probably get the new Hemi. Having owned a couple LS1 cars, I can say GMs newest small block is superior to its old classic. It's all aluminum, which means it can run more compression on pump gas because it dissipates heat better. The LS family were designed from the ground up for computer controlled-tuned port fuel injection, so the heads flow better. They start instantly hot or cold, and run great in any weather. My 60s and 70s era small block cars were not that reliable. The factory Q-jet cars were close, but the Holleys always needed tuning. The damn points always needed attention, too. I'll take these new motors anytime. The can make more power with better daily driveability than the "classic" musclecar engines. The new Z06 Vette is going to have 500 hp.
How about a 400hp HYBRID........it can be done...today
I saw it on TV back in '97 or '98, but I do not think it's been on since. It was ok. He was made out to be more a hero than an anti-hero speed freak. He jumps out before the impact.
I haven't heard any report about the new mustangs winter performance, but it is probably better then they were in the 70's.
I hope GM and Dodge do have success with a Retro car.
Mustang needs some compitition to keep the price down.
I am looking to get a 2006 or 2007 Mustang. I have talked to a dealer or two and they seem very cocky when discussung the mustangs, MSRP price is a laugh with many dealers.
They need to be brought down a peg or two.
I had the privelege of driving a 1971 (70?) Challenger 440 RT in college. My friend inherited the car, as a loaner, from her older brother and hated it. She lived quite a distance away from the school and I lived about 60 miles away, so it became my 'job' to drive it home on weekends and holidays when I went and pretty much whenever I wanted so that it would be warmed up and run. I later made her an offer on it, but her brothers girlfriend got the bright idea of selling it at auction. As 2 newbies to the auction, they got hosed and sold it for far less than I offered. I can't wait to see what Dodge does with the 06 concept.
Didn't know there was one.......
Any good?
I have no interest in supporting a heavier, more expensive, more dangerous vehicle that will only partially respond to an energy market problem largely created by oppressive environmental protection laws.
I had a blue one of these which I sold (Bangs head on desk repeatedly). Now, if they came out with a NEW version that captured SOME of what this one has, I MIGHT bite....BUT, if the price of the new one is more than what a REAL one is going for, why go with the clone when you can drive the REAL thing?
I agree with you, take body ques from the second gen F-body, keep the huge powerplants, with modernized tech, and you'd have one heck of a muscle car! My first was a 77 Bandit T/A, with all the go fast goodies on the market now, I'd love to have that 400cc engine to tweak with modren fuel injection!
...and my hideaways never lined up either...whomever redid this car should NOT have put the trim rings on the wheels...big no-no.
well ya know the 2006 Vet Z06 motor is 427CI and 500HP which is a small block no less and would drop in the F-body verrrrry nicely. LOL
That's exactly what I want - a modernized 69 Goat. Big-ass v-8 and real wheel drive. And big enough to be comfortable.
I really hope you meant 400 c.i.
Now that I would buy.
I'd like to see a retro '65 GTO-looking GTO.
