Like mosques all over, the Dome of the Rock is an imperialist symbol, showing the disdain for the holy places of other faiths. That was the only reason for its construction. It should be destroyed, along with Islam itself. Luckily for us, Moslems are themselves the agency of Islam's destruction. Hence the urgency behind those many calls for jihad outside Islamic countries.

You are correct about the mosque being an imperialist symbol. The Western Gate, AKA The Golden Gate, is on the west side of the Dome of the Rock. The Muslims knew Jesus is supposed to return through the gate, and so they walled it up, and built a cemetery on the outside to keep Him from returning. :)

In the link below you will find two pictures of the Dome of the Rock. One shows the rock on the inside. You will note the white spot in the lower left corner. The Jews would sacrifice thousands of animals in the First and Second Temple periods on the rock, and the white spot is a hole leading into a room below the rock. The blood would drain into the room, and at one time it supposedly drained all the way into the Kidron Valley to the West.
