Just about every day, Howard Dean, the presidential-loser-turned-Democratic-national-chairman, fires off a snarky new blast at President Bush & Co. but top Republicans mostly ignore him these days.
Dean has called Republicans "brain-dead" and a "white Christian party," and now his new pet line is to blame Bush for a controversial ruling by the Supreme Court's most liberal justices.
That's the 5-4 decision that gave a green light for government to use eminent domain to grab private homes and kick out homeowners so private developers can use it to make megamillions.
Or, as Dean shrilled to college Democrats in Washington, "The president and his right-wing Supreme Court think it is OK to have the government take your house if they feel like putting up a hotel where your house is."
Well, no. In reality, the justices responsible for the ruling are the five liberal icons beloved in Dean-land Clinton appointees Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer plus David Souter, John Paul Stevens and Anthony Kennedy.
Conservatives Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and William Rehnquist all dissented, along with moderate Sandra Day O'Connor. And, of course, contrary to Dean's fantasy rant, none is a Bush appointee John Roberts is his very first nominee.
For now, Republicans see no need to answer Dean's rant because no one, except the far left, is listening. They can count on conservative blogs like PowerLine to tear him apart, and he's great fodder for talk radio.
They think Dean is leading his party off the left cliff, and they're happy to let him do it.
RNC spokesman Brian Jones said, "Obviously, he brought a lot of energy but also a lot of divisiveness and negativity and what seems to be trying to grab headlines instead of uniting the Democratic Party."

Dumbo Dean still hasn't figured out that was the addlepated idea of five lily-livered liberal USSC justices.
And this nutjob wanted to be President?!?!?! Can you imagine him as your doctor? No way!
IMO it's a mistake for the inarticulate reps to not send someone out to reply. (This used to be the vice president's role, but no more).
Next thing Dean could use after the yawn is a favorite of the good old guy, Soupy Sales ..... a nice pie in the face.
;-)
Treatment first; diagnosis later.
How can anyone care to be around Dean or Carville? Buth moronic buttheads.
Cripes, he'd be out every single day.
The GOP would get media coverage and Dean might stop.
Never stop a fool from his mistakes.
And this nutjob wanted to be President?!?!?! Can you imagine him as your doctor? No way!
everything could be cured by having an abortion
I think a day to day, scream to scream, witless comment to witless comment response to Dean would be a bigger mistake.
It would just be ridiculous after awhile.
I think it's better to leave Dean out there and ignore him. Even the lame stream news is pretty much ignoring him now also. This will press him to be more outlandish than ever.
All the GOP should do is make notes of his rants so they can be cherry-picked and created into a series of "Dean gone wild" video's
Heheh.....beautiful.
Blame Bush for my Scream, not Me. We don't need Republican voters for our Candidates. Our Candidates can all do as well as me. Yearrgh!
/Sarcasm OFF
I disagree. Bush's poll numbers are not so good. They need a compelling articulte speaker out there.
Dean who?
