"a country prepared to create a system resembling the Gestapo in Germany, or the KGB in the Soviet Union, in the name of national security."
Ah, I love this tack.
We can't put up a border fence, because that would be like a wall, and they had a wall separating east and west berlin. We would be like the evil, oppressive germans!!!
First, the only time liberals don't like communism is when they can use it to go after the other side. Second, the wall in germany was meant to keep people IN against their will - A border fence is there to keep people OUT who don't belong there!

Gestapo? WTH!? I do not see the INS or any law enforcement types hauling-in illegals and beating the sh*t out of them and injecting the with skopalamine and summarily executing them.
As usual, the Left uses terms like "Gestapo" and "KGB" without know a damned thing about what they REALLY mean.

We can't put up a border fence, because that would be like a wall,Of course, they leave out that minor difference between such walls - one is meant to keep people in, and the other to keep people out. One is a sign of a totalitarian state, and the other is a sign of a free state protecting its borders from invasion.

You're right. Comparing a border fence to Germany's wall is like comparing your home to a prison. Very very different things.
