Out here in the west you can tell what manner of bear you are tracking or running across by what is in its stool.

A black bear will have berries and small animals bones.

A grizzly will almost invariably have bells, pepper spray, and sandals in its stool.

Where is the ACLU when you really need them?

These bears must be sued or a ceast and desist order imposed.

Watch the video:

I wouldn't exactly call it "frightening" but if I was that camper I guess I would have freaked out.

I am upset that they killed the bear. Campers are less valuable than bears. After all it is the bear's home. A camper is easily replaced, while a bear is one of God's creature just doing what came naturally.

Never go into bear country alone. Always take someone along you can outrun if a bear attacks...

I hope there is a three day waiting period for those Damn whistles Imagine trying that out on urban getto predators as they rob your house. Shame they had to kill the bear but it was MUCH too comfortable around humans.

I think it was racist to say that the hikers should have scared the bear away. That is a form of profiling, which just assumes that the bear is going to do something bad. I think it is a law enforcement issue. We should NOT try to prevent bears from biting people. We should wait until after they do it and then apply the full power of the law to go after them.

Oh, did I say 'bear'? I meant ROP terrorists!

Aw, heck. That was just a little love tap.

Love the stupid graphics people covering up the bear with their own graphics like "exclusive video". Sheesh.

According to the environmental wackos, Alaska's ANWR belongs to all the people and should be preserved for everyone to see in a pristine condition.

Well, I hate the cold.....so I'll camp in my woods in New Jersey.

Send them bears back to the woods where they belong.

Better yet...send them to ANWR to enjoy the beautiful winter.

July 13th? why did it take so long for the Park Rangers to report it to the state? Seems there was a breakdown in communication again. That bear could have injured or killed another person in the span of time.

Some "friends", they videotape the bear while biting their "friend" then blow the whistle to scare it away.

Yes, in New Jersey, there was no bear hunt last yr., the yr. before there was, the first in 30 years. FYI, 40% of NJ is considered rural.

Get the Holy Hand Grenade!

And did you see the video - and the compulsory tooth paste ad video - her teeth were more frightening than the bears!

They put that Bear down for that? WTH is this world coming to. The Bear was more scared than the people it was sniffing on.

I would have beat the ever living crap out who ever video taped the "attack" Then i would have dragged them over to the bear and then video taped it as they got nibbled on.

Okay that was a tad extreme ;) , but I'd be more than a little pissed and would require several beers on the photographer's tab.
