Lived near Moffett Field in Mountain View, CA (next to NASA Ames Facility) Almost every weekend, there would be touch and gos all day long (this was mid 90s). Just the reserves practicing.

I'm about 12 or so miles south of Dobbins; I'm used to seeing them fly in and out of there from time to time. Many times, the Guard will fly them west out of Dobbins for nighttime runs over the country (for those who don't know, Acworth, GA is about fifteen miles north of Dobbins AFB; Dallas, GA is about fifteen to twenty miles west of Dobbins).

This is also the time of the year for reserve training at Dobbins. I can remember seeing 30 or more Herkies in the pattern during the first week of August. They made a very large, very interesting oval, and came in almost on top of Windy Hill Rd and Cobb Parkway.

The Carter 130 cargo hauler is native to Plains, not Dallas.

There seems to be heavy C130 flyings over the Dallas, and Acworth, Georgia areas this evening. They build them and fix them near there. When they think there is something wrong, they fly them around until they figure out the fix. So when one flies over, it is either new and untested, or broken and being tested.

If you are lucky, maybe you will get to see one the greatest military operations you could ever imagine .... a Ranger Battalion seizing an airfield.

I was on 140 heading out of Alpharetta to Canton tonight a little after 8PM. Nevertheless, a low flying Blackhawk came over the trees. It was a bit of a surprise since I never see Army Blackhawks.

Marietta is where they pump out C-130s. Additionally there are quite a few based there.
Logically there should be more C-130s here in this part of Georgia than almost any place in the world.
