"Anyone found in possession of cigarettes without a washington state or state authorized stribal stamp is subject to a fine". Do have have cigarette police in the state walking around asking to see your pack? If both states have sales tax, would the state selling the product be subject to the sales tax not the out of state ?

Haven't you heard? Washington state has all its crime problems solved. There are no potholes in the roads. It's a people's paradise!

Idaho sales tax is 5%, Washington's is 8. And Washington taxes cigarettes at an astronomical rate, while Idaho is quite a bit less, so many people come over the border to buy smokes. And yes, I kid you not, Washington state police have set up observation posts at random times to monitor border smoke shops and watch people who cross the border to bring back cigarettes into Washington.

Think about that: a legal product, already bought and paid for, including taxes, and you get stopped and cited because you bought it out of state. I don't see them doing that with gasoline, or groceries, or any other product.
