Another bureaucratic bright light getting a big raise is Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll.
This ditz went uninvited to the funeral of Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich, 32, of Pittsburgh who died July 10 in Iraq. She sat next to a family member, asked who she was, then handed her a business card remarking that the government is against the war.
Nothing like using a U.S. Marine's funeral as a campaign stop.
I'm not sure how much of a pay hike Mrs. Knoll's is getting. Do you think she deserves it?

Fast Eddie, by the way, defended Mrs. Knoll, saying, "It's not the business of state government to support the war."
He joins Catherine Baker Knoll, John Kerry, Teddy Kennedy, the Dixie Chicks, Barbra Streisand, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell in that belief.

Check the letters to the editor.
Rhonda Goodrich, the sister of Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich, has allowed us to publish the letter she sent to Catherine Baker Knoll.
In it she wrote: "Ms. Knoll, you are a disgrace and you should be ashamed to even raise your head. If you would like, take the taxpayers' money and get a flight to Iraq and find a nice hole to crawl into with the terrorists since you seem to have no compassion for this country.
I bet I can even get you a Marine escort to drop you there. You may have the elected position for now.
But we as Americans and Pennsylvanians have the freedom to boot you out next election, thanks to My brother Joe and all servicemen fighting to give us that FREEDOM." *** Hanoi Jane Fonda will take a bus tour to oppose the Iraq War. A lot of us give her credit for getting many young people killed ...

"Must see" editorial by all vets ping.
So I guess Fast Eddie is telling us that it is the business of state government to not support the war. As a native Pennsylvanian I apologize to all of our brave military men and women for this piece of garbage.
Cruella DeKnoll.
Catherine Baker Knoll is as undeserving of a raise as anyone in public office.
JOHN PIPPY FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR!
If you like JOHN PIPPY he must be good. Tell us a little about him.

Haverford State Hospital, more recently, also became a victim of bureaucratic stupidity.
The fact that the institutions were expensive to run might also have something to do with it.
The plan was to install these poor folks into community living arrangements. Ha!
Numerous patients -- perhaps most -- became street people. They ended up sleeping in subways and cardboard boxes. Some froze to death. A lot of them commit everyday crimes such as breaking into and looting automobiles. Others commit felonies such as rape and murder. Many of those who still have loved ones trying to take care of them are dangerous.
We were recently reminded of this when Michael Rafferty, 29, killed his parents and a neighbor in Drexel Hill. This was the third time this year that murders were committed by mental patients in Delaware County. We should be aware that we are failing our citizens who suffer with mental illnesses. The out-of-date and disjointed methods of care designed to serve the mentally ill have repeatedly failed them.
Countless sufferers must be taken care of for their entire life.
But don't bother to see your state senator or representative about getting help. Right now, he's busy on break, getting ready to spend his big raise. Then he has to get back to work on important matters like making seatbelts for dogs mandatory.
Our lawmakers are looking at a minimum $50,000 a year pension after spending 20 happy years in Harrisburg where there is no heavy lifting. They can spend $128 a day on lunch or dinner. Our treat. How does that $50,000 pension compare with that of a retired military person? How does that pension compare to yours? I thought so! ***

I'm more cynical. I think it was done to free up money for govt. programs more to their liking.
Liberals always "gussie" up their greed. Yes, they wanted the money for other programs, but their justifications made them saints in their own minds.
They are very, very good at that.
Hi Rhonda.
I would love to see you run for office, Check Pennsylvania Clean Sweep at www.pacleansweep.com. They want to get rid of all incumbents.
