I think people forget about how long it took to root out Germnay and Japan after WWII. I didn't happen overnight. Yes, we're dealing with the "Instant Gratification Crowd." They think it should be just like the movies. We go in, we invade, we conquer the regime and then everybody lives happily ever after.
This is a different kind of war. The president, the SECDEF and anyone else connected to it has said that from the beginning. Funny how people won't listen to them, but they'll hang loyally onto every deceptive word the media spews forth.
Actually, I leave in less than two weeks and I'm headed to London. (I know, I know...we planned it before 7/7 and we're not gonna back down...LOL) I'll be arriving back in the Sandbox just before Labor Day.

How can we possibly expect people to believe any differently when this is precisely how our government has portrayed warfare ever since the first Gulf War (or even sooner -- in Grenada and Panama)?

Anyway. "This is a different kind of war." is a phrase that has been used by Roosevelt and as far back as war itself. Heck the Persian were saying that about Alexander the Great. His daddy Philip said it about his opponents when he suffered one of his few defeats at the hands of an enemy with catapults.
