My buddy just sent me a txt msg saying the power is out, the streets are flooding, the cells are down, and he heard a wind shear or tornado hit the area
I havent heard anything....
that dispatcher is awesome....
Shoulda given me the scanner NOW instead of waiting for my housewarming gift.
From what I can hear in the scanner, Chandler faired fine... just wet
North Phoenix was hit hard.
Big cell now in Wickenberg and south of there.
She is earning her pay tonight
Thanks...
By the way I was wrong, it is still raining here. Just a light steady rain though. No more thunderstorm.
That yellow is some good rain....not three inches more....but an inch or two
You wouldn't happen to have a newer, latest and greatest pic like in #2, would you?
*sigh*
Yes it is a nice rain now. But so was the heavy rain we got. When it is as dry as it was, it was nice to see the heavy rain.
Guess they switched dispatchers at 11pm....this guy is good too....
dispatching every 20 seconds....
lots of flooded businesses....
I liked the lady better. This guy reminds me of someone I work with.
See, we are nice California posters....if we get an earthquake here, we get all the freepernuts from the East Coast telling us to fall into the ocean like Atlantis, usually before the house stops shaking....
E. Phoenix/Scottsdale border here, lots of wind, some rain, lots of lightening.
Not like it was 30 years ago before all the sprawl.
Why do you think all those Arizonans are building houses on Lake Havasu?
Yes, someone told me you can't get a tornado in a city....or something like that. The heat from the pavement is too hot and it slows down the funnel cloud....
Of course, I remember that tornado hitting downtown Nashville, so I dont know how accurate that is...
You know there is some guy, in a Uhaul van with his wife heading east on I10 and about to hit that storm cell....
I drove my buddies moving van last year, and just the wind was blowing it all over the highway....maybe DPS will escort vehicles or something...I am sure that floods at places
I'm pretty midtown now, versus 30 years ago. Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Glendale all built up, they are on the edge now.
I love a monsoon though!
Did you ever get caught in a sand storm coming home??? NASTY stuff.
Storm is right over I-10 in the desert west of Phoenix now.
I wonder how close it is to Luke
