Democrats * Pro-AbortionistsChange Rhetoric – “Choice” doesn’t sell in US Politics Anymore

WASHINGTON, August 2, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Since the crushing defeat of the Democrats in the last election, the party’s spin doctors have been crafting a new approach to abortion without making any moves to abandon their basic premise that babies can be killed at will.

Democratic think tank, the Third Way, billing itself as a “strategy center for progressives” attempting to reverse the social tide in the US towards traditional values, says that the Democrat party and abortion groups need to change their rhetoric.

After its success in moving the Democrats to the centre on gun control, the think tank is now focusing on abortion with “a series of briefing papers on abortion, with policy and messaging that will help progressives win the war of ideas.” Newsweek has obtained a brief from the Third Way that shows the country is locked into polarized positions but that most of the public falls into the undecided category which the brief calls, “grays.” “We've now gotten locked in a frame and policies for 30 years that speak to the polars but don't speak to the grays,” says Third Way president Jon Cowan.

With the retirement of the key swing voter on the US Supreme Court, Sandra Day O’Connor, the aging forces of abortion support in the US are gearing up for a new fight. This second stage will be one in which the subtleties of linguistic manipulation will be a key weapon.

The left is never going to own up to the truth and just start calling it baby killing, so we are winning in the marketplace of ideas.

demos new slogan is selling abortion as "rare."

we can't stop them from from decimating their future democrat rank and file. soon there will be but a few.

remember: abortion stops a BLEEDING heart.

only a change in public opinion will defeat abortion.

"the grays"

"the subtleties of linguistic manipulation will be a key weapon."

I think that says it all. Welcome George Orwell to 1984

It's our job to explain to people what abortion really is.

It's the brutal dismemberment of an infant while it's still alive from it's mothers womb without as little as an aspirin to dull the pain.

Gitmo is heaven compared to what a tortured infant has to suffer through before it's considered dead.

Abortion is real human torture.

The scumbag Democrats just keep struggling to find the best way to LIE.
Didn't they recently hire a guy to help them? George Lakoff, "rhymes with"?

It seems to me that if the liberal position on an issue (KILLING BABIES) is such that most people disagree with it, that should tell them to reconsider their position. But, no, they seem to be of the mind set that they need to "win" because they know better than the majority of other people and in order to do that, they have to pretend to hold views (rare?) they don't really feel. Wow.

"What color are democrats?"

"They are baby-killer blue!" (except Fat Teddy who is baby-killer blue with a great big red nose).

Why don't we hang on the scumbag dems, at every turn, the label of baby-killers? They attack good guys on every issue and believe that is all they need to do. The stand for very little. One thing they do advance is the murder, on demand, of babies. We must put them on the defensive and use the phrase, "baby-killer blue" interchangeably with the label, "democrat." Of course, scumbag, crapweasel, traitor, anti-American and neocommunist apply equally as well to democrats, but "baby-killer blue" can be use adjectivelly.

It's all part of Dem-Speak:
Privacy Issues = abortion rights
Working Family = Democrats who are union workers
Politics of Personal Destruction = when a Republican quotes Democrat verbatum

The list goes on....

Because if you don't keep a constant eye on them,
you'll find them behind your back, stabbing you
in it, as they rob you of all the cash in your
wallet, while screaming in "righteius indignation"
that you have more money in your wallet than they
have in *theirs*, so therefore *you* musta stole it
from *them*, so society shouldn't blame then for
stabbing you in the back, but give them a reward!

In terms of being a battle of words, Pope John Paul II and Mother Theresa of Calcutta have set the standard. the abortion industry is labeled as the focus of the Culture of Death by John Paul. Mother Theresa's famous National Prayer Breakfast speech is a speech that may one surprise the Gettysburg Address in importance.

If this is a battle of linguistics, as per the article, then Satan had better come to the aid of the culture of death, as they are in dire straits these days...

Recounting the recent actions of President Bush (funding to Planned Parenthood increased to $244 million)...

The president never authorizes funding -- only Congress. Congress has to ban Planned Parenthood funding in Title X. The House has the votes to do away with this, but with Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein, there are no one with courage to bring this up in the Senate.

The Senate might pass this, if someone had the courage to try. Senator Brownback of Kansas has the moral conviction, so I don't know why he won't try.

However, it is a shame that Bob Casey, Jr. did not run again a 33rd degree Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania -- champion of Scottish Rites Masonry, oh, excuse me, that's Scottish Law.

"Success in moving the dems to the center on gun control?"

Translation: They just stopped talking about the issue.

That does not mean, however, that they have changed their positions.
