Bayh Raises More than Hillary for Presidential Bid
Opinion Times ^ | 8/5/05 | Jim Pfaff

According to the Indianapolis Star, Sen. Evan Bayh, Democrat and son of former Democrat Senator and Presidential candidate Birch Bayh, has raised more money for his Political Action Committee (used by many candidates to boost Presidential aspirations) than assumed Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton (Democrat Senator supposedly from New York).

Bayh raised $1.17 million this year through a fundraising arm that will help him raise his profile and build a campaign team, according to recent disclosure reports. Some of that money paid for a public speaking consultant whose former clients include Princess Diana.
This is impressive, but he still has a long way to go before he can outpace the draw of Hillary.
[Even] though Bayh collected more through his political action committee (PAC) than New York Sen. Hillary Clinton did through hers, Clinton showed why she is considered the most formidable fundraiser of the potential Democratic candidates, raising $10 million in six months for her 2006 re-election campaign.
Let's not forget that Bayh was formerly a very popular Democrat Governor from Indiana, a mid-sized, conservative state who is positioning himself as a liberal minded centrist.
This reminds one of another dark-horse Democrat contender in 1992 named Bill Clinton. It would be the irony of ironies if Bayh could come from out of nowhere to grab the nomination. And if he did, he would be much more attractive than, say, John Edwards because Bayh has successfully positioned himself as a budget hawk with a sense of family values (he was once Indiana State Chairman of the National Fatherhood Initiative--see here, here and here).

Hillary doesn't need to raise a dime. Between MSM support and Soros' 527 money, she could spend a half billion dollars on the campaign and not have to ever have a single penny officially enter or leave her bank account.

Aside from that she knows how to cheat.

I predict Sen. Bayh will meet with an unfortunate "accident" sometime this year.

The MSM got it wrong the last two elections.

All I know is that the democrat soccer moms I know can't stand her. "She doesn't seem very nice." (They haven't noticed she's a marxist.)

Bayh is so boring, his method of getting money must be to promise to stop talking if one will make a donation.

Unfortunately, Bayh appears to be more conservative than the majority of RINOs in this race.

This is a sad truth.

He is quite liberal, despite the way he has successfully painted himself as a moderate. He is on the fringe on a number of issues. Voted against Condi for S.O.S., for example.
