Breaking News from CFRB 1010AM News Radio - Toronto
Airliner on fire on the ground at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Unclear as to cause. Announcers asking for updates from motorists in the region on HWY 401. Report says great deal of smoke. I have to go into a meeting shortly but I'll listen for updates as long as I can.

Much emergency vehicle activity. Not sure of cause, possibly went off runway into ravine (at end of runway). Caller says NOT a small plane.

Witness says was driving by and saw flash of light and then fire in rear of plane (we have a pterry good electrical storm here right now). Possibly Air France plane (would be a large heavy). Aircraft seems to have slipped off the end of the runway and is face down in ravine. My guess is this would have happened on takeoff from runway 2.

Weather a possible cause; raining now, severe thunderstorms also in the Toronto area today.

CNN says it's Lufthansa, but other reports indicate an Air France A340.

Not good, large flames continuing at what looks like the front portion of the fuselage, perhaps also further back. Lufthansa 737.

Hard to tell, but it looks like the entire length of the cabin is now engulfed in flames.

Definitely an Air France A340.

Airbus, huh? Hope everyone is off, and glad it never got off the ground.
To: mewzilla
Ditto. Plane still in flames.
To: Hillarys Gate Cult
I would consider this a major aircraft fire. 737, lots of fire and smoke.
To: jackbill
Cavuto just said it was on takeoff.
