"I don't think they're covering things up that would help the case.."
One never knows, there could be one little thing that they know that could make other pieces fall into place.
We don't know how hard they have been pressed. But these are not street hardened gang kids. These are soft girls from a suburb and my guess is if your scenario, where they saw Nat on the beach, argued and she walked away, is true that they have told someone. Obviously Beth doesn't think this or know this or we would have heard.
But they would have no reason to withhold any such information. None. And I doubt they would given the gravity of what is going on.
I suspect this topic has been discussed so very much by all the parties, their friends, their parents, etc, that what one person knew and what they "heard" are all mixed up.
In the movies, she looks like a somewhat innocent teen. Reminds me of Diana Trilling's quote that youth should arrive on the scene with awkwardness.
17 is such a young age, so much vulnerability and unsureness for many girls. It comes across in some as a tentativeness, an awkwardness. It is very becoming to me as mother of grown women. I remember when they looked like that.
You know, as I watch the videos of Natalee and see the pictures, she seems to be always on the edge, end or "outside" the group instead of the one in the middle. That could mean that she is independent, or sort of stand offish or not quite fitting in but still part of a group. I don't know why but that stands out to me. Maybe because I am like that and so is my oldest daughter, who happens to be 19. Maybe the perpetrators picked up on this and figured it would be easy to separate her from the others. You know, not having a clinging vine bestest friend to worry about her or at least the other kids being used to her doing her own thing. Just something to consider.
"But they would have no reason to withhold any such information. None. And I doubt they would given the gravity of what is going on."
Unless, one of them was directly responsible. This is just pure speculation but I hate it when I hear studdering and story changes. I can tell you that the one girl, wish I knew her name, (maybe Francis?) was a very smooth, mature, clever and confident young woman. I did not find her soft at all.
I have noticed the same thing and did not see a lot of enthusiasm, more like she is going through the motions. She may have been trying to impress this group by "scoring" the prize of Joran. Who knows, just speculation.
You do wonder if she was there without her closest friends if somehow the perps knew that. They may can sense vulnerablty sort of like dogs.
We had a mean German Shepherd in our last neighborhood, everyone was terrified of him and he was frequently out intimidating people. I read that you have to impress the dog that you are top dog so on a walk I ran into himm and raised my hand and advanced on him saying "get back" and he, to my surprise, did.
I don't know the pecking order at the high school. But if Nat were higher, envy might have caused her to be an outsider. If she were lower, snobbery.
But it seems to me, while interesting, it is white noise. It would be a huge leap to imagine one of those girls being involved in the crime.
I think we know who the perps are. I wonder if they were tough and smart enough perps to know who the vulnerable girls were. And being in a foreign country, at a bar, without one's best friends, makes a girl vulnerable.
I believe "no body, no crime" is a paraphrase of something PVDS did say. What he actually DID say and what he meant by it is unknown to me.
There is simply no way of knowing how accurate most of what we think we know about this case is.
TBV, you are correct, we have no idea and I always thought it would take a pure idiot to make that remark, anywhere, anytime to anybody under these circumstances. PVDS is a lawyer and maybe judge, he would absolutey know better. He could have said, "How do they know it is a crime when there is no body." Pretty much the same thing but with a whole different meaning.
I think you're on to something here. I wonder about Jossy Mansur's complicity in this, since he's the one I see who probably has the most to lose. But I haven't made up my mind about him. I also wonder if PVDS hasn't thrown his own son to the wolves thinking because he is a juvenile that he will only get slapped on the wrist. And because of the dark forces he's wondered into, J is doing and saying/not saying what he's told to because he's afraid to do otherwise.
But none of them reckoned on Beth Twitty and her hard-working extended family. And the larger US family who sees Natalee as their own daughter and therefore will encourage and back them. Someone in Aruba chose the wrong family to tangle with. Thank goodness. It's about time that backwater got cleaned out.
"They are covering something up and I think and have thought that they know Natalee returned to hotel area that night, what happened next is anyone's guess. How hard have these girls been pressed with their discrepancies and there are quite a few if you go back from the beginning?"
If that was the case why is Joran admitting that they left together, went to look at the lighthouse, then he left her on a beach near the Marriott. Even Joran isn't disputing that they were together. It doens't make a difference who saw them together at C&C's and who didn't. Joran has already admitted all this. If your theory that somehow these girls are responsible for something related to her disappearance you would also need to pursue that thought tht Joran is covering for these girls.
I think you are looking for something that isn't there.
Just looking outside the box is all. Maybe Joran did leave her on the beach and she walked back to the hotel area and something went awry then.
Who was sharing a room with Natalee at the HI? I don't understand why they wouldn't notice if she didn't show up in the room that night/early morning?
I think there is a lot that these girls from Birmingham know and aren't telling. I think a group of people from Birmingham may have gone to a RAVE after CnC's, Natalee included.
TAW
There's a dark-haired girl in a lot of the photos they show of Natalee. I also saw her in some of the video from MB with BHT. I think she was on the trip wasn't she?
Hmmmm...that one doesn't do it for me either. The beach in question is a long way from the HI. It would seem even longer at night when you can't see it so well. Also, you're not taking into consideration of how they would have 'disposed' of her in the short time they had before leaving. Disposed of her so well that she hasn't been found yet. These are not island kids with knowledge of the island or ready access to boats. If someone from MB did something bad to her then someone from Aruba is covering for them...I can't make that add up. Sorry.
Stuff happens with teenagers. Many, MANY years ago, I went to school in the desert southwest. One night there was a party pretty far into the desert, I was with a fellow who I had dated before, this particular night he scared me and was acting very strange and I felt threatened. Couldn't find my friends, I left and began walking. The first house I came to with lights on, I knocked on the door to call my parents for a ride. Everything came out okay, but when I look back it was stupid. Let's say I disappeared, who do you think would have been responsible and who would have been targeted?

I knew I could bring you around.......I don;t know what it is but there are some of these girls who are not telling all there is to tell and why, I don't know. Did you hear the Nancy Grace interview last night?
