Getting drunk, which in turn will lead to who knows what, may not be perceived as shameful at that age, but shameful it is if not done in moderation and does not lead to other amoral activities.
I agree with you. The tape break information was reported by Jug as coming from the headmaster who heard it from Joran. Jug did not indicate the tape break claim to be true or not, from my recall. As you say, no one else has indicated a tape break in the HI security tape. And one big fact we all know is...Joran is a liar. Anyone missing that fact has not been paying attention.

I don't agree. I've seen no proof that drinking causes other amoral activities. That's like saying smoking cigarettes will lead to smoking pot.
However, I will agree that underage drinkers are more likely not to know their limits.
With all due respect, I have a hard time differentiating between what is truth and what is rumor, hearsay, and pure conjecture on this board. I don't know anymore what to believe or to discount because there is so much thrown up without any sourcing but some other internet chat site.
I will give you this: Joran appears to have had very loose parental supervision. This is to his parents discredit.
Finally, I never said anything about 'giving an inch' to my kids as you quoted me doing. I don't care if you don't find me likeable, either.

I think in this can of worms so far, only a few have wriggled to the top. The Byrd girl, always looked she was glad it happened to Natalee under the surface.
I still am curious why those girls keep saying they stayed pool side until 5:30 AM the morning of departure. Those numbers ain't jivin and some may be a lyin. I am not comfortable with their little story. It appears they are creating an alibli, as to put them in a place not to observe anything unusual.

The only AMORAL people in this scenario are the Van de Sloots including the missus. And the Kalpoes and the perpertrators covering-up this crime. I feel that Mrs. VDS should encourage her son or Sons (yes, the younger son also), to tell the truth about Natalee. If she was compassionate this is what she would do. Try to get them on the straight and narrow before it is too late.

She knows. Worse yet, she is willing to do anything she can without regard to what he will most certainly do in society when released. This woman is nearly as bad as her brood.
Does anyone know if TJ Ward has been arrested yet?
Has the gardner witness been found yet?
Let's just be clear. There is a good chance that Natalee made decisions that put her in a compromising position that may have cost her her life. Her friends turned their heads because when they saw her leaving with these guys it was not unusual behavior to them, it was typical. Any one of those girls could have done the same thing. Very few on this thread have the foresight or nerve to say what needs to be said, and when you hear the truth from posters like TbV you start personal attacks. Natalee was participating in the same kind of activity Joran and other teenagers were in Aruba that week. She was drinking, gambling and flirting, maybe even sexually active yet Joran is a creep and his parents are permissive. They left together, with mutual consent and rather than accept that fact people including her parents want to believe otherwise and that will be why this case is never solved.
Mama Sloot could be in denial, however, if she knows anything to help Beth she should come forward. She will have to live this lie her entire life. She will never really be happy. Do we know the reason JVDS killed the family dog? Was it anger? Is it a fact that he did this?
