" U.N. assume global governance of the Internet."
THAT would be ceding the ultimate information control to the enemy of mankind! Worse than bookburnings.
To: WillMalven
Perhaps we ought to ask the inventor of the Internet, Al Gore for guidance.

Forgive an ignorant question. But how is it that any one country controls the internet? I hadn't know that America controlled the 'net.

U.N.=Enemy of America!
Interesting comment from Kofi yesterday regarding the appointment of Mr. Bolton. He stated, in effect, that Mr. Bolton would be welcomed as long as he agress to a "give and take" philosophy.
Kofi knows. He takes.

I can't say that I was all that impressed with Coleman when he was here in Minnesota as mayor of St.Paul, but the man does seem to be one of the only visible Republicans with balls when it comes to the UN. ( Too damn bad that Republican politians can't all have a set!)

I have no problem with the UN controlling the internet. That is assuming they pay us for it.
Now what do you think control of the Internet is worth?

ICANN controls the root (DNS) servers, which control all DNS on the Internet. Technically you can operate web sites by IP address alone, but mail servers require DNS.

Drudge's report is a short and IMPORTANT read. The UN has wanted for some time to control the use of the internet, and the dissemination of information. This looks like a first step in that direction.
Thanks, Will, for this information.

Nope, the big mouths moved too fast, the dems didn't have time to demonize the internet before they tried to take over. You know, the way the SUV has been demonized.......etc..

Yes. It was started here, it includes a number of international figures (heads of companies) on its board, but it's US-owned.
