BERLIN: A German mother accused of killing nine of her newborn babies over nearly two decades has told investigators that she cannot remember all of the births, police said Tuesday.
In a case that shocked the country and raised troubling questions about social cohesion in a depressed corner of ex-communist east Germany, Sabine H 39, stands accused of murdering the infants soon after giving birth to them between 1998 and 2004.
Spokesman Peter Salender of the police in the city of Frankfurt-an-der-Oder on the Polish border said she had shown severe memory gaps during questioning, remembering the births of some of the children but unable to recall others. "We are going to need a long time to interrogate her," he said.
Salender said she had neither admitted to nor denied the charges against her, which were filed late on Monday. "We are gradually getting a picture of what happened," he said. An acquaintance of Sabine H's sister and brother-in-law discovered tiny human bones in an old aquarium Sunday in a shed he was asked to clear out in the town of Brieskow-Finkenheerd, about 10 kms south of Frankfurt-an-der-Oder.
He alerted police, who then unearthed the remains of eight other babies hidden in flower boxes and pots in the shed and in buckets buried under sand and dirt. Police resumed the search of the grounds on Tuesday ahead of a police news conference scheduled for 12.
Media reports said that Sabine H, who is the mother of four living children aged 20, 19, 18 and one and a half, is pregnant again. "We are checking into that," Salender said. Neighbors said Sabine, who usually wore her dark hair in a ponytail, usually gave them a friendly smile when she saw them but generally kept to herself. Authorities expressed horror at what appears to be the worst case of child murder in German postwar history.
"We are faced with a crime whose scope, in my memory, we have never seen in the history of the federal republic," said Brandenburg state interior minister Joerg Schoenbohm. "We must ask ourselves how this unbelievable crime remained hidden all these years."

Dammit, not again. Why does it matter what the social or economic conditions were in the place she killed them? I am so sick of liberals' constant quest for an excuse, so they can pretend that there is no such thing as good and evil. This woman is pure evil. The only "troubling questions" it raises is why wasn't she stopped earlier? But to liberals, no one is evil, they were just forced to do bad things by greedy capitalism or oppressive religion.
That's nothing. The German people killed 12 million people not long ago and most of the Germans have forgotten about them, too.

It has to be 1988....instead of 1998. Think about having 9 babies...minimum of 81 months of pregnancy....that's almost 7 years.
Big deal. Here in the USA, the ACLU would simply argue that Roe v Wade would protect this women's right to have a post birth abortion, to protect the women's health. Afterall, raising 9 kids has to be bad for ones health.

And the fathers of these murdered innocents?
Put her away and throw away the key. Forget the mental defense. We know she has mental problems if she killed 9 of her own babies. Lock up the father(s) too. They have to be involved or just as guilty.

And where is (are) her husband(s)?
In America, she could have killed them all in-utero and been a spokesperson for it.
Maybe they believe she's been doing it for 20 years, but only charged her with cases from 1998 or later due to something like statute of limitations or availability of evidence.
