Could it be true - the mother of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy was once put in charge of little Al Gore?
Conservative political maven Lucianne Goldberg revealed her Gore connection on Monday, telling Fox News Radio's Tony Snow that she was Al Gore's babysitter when he was 10 years old.
Turns out, Goldberg's friend at the Washington, D.C. private school they both attended was the Gore family's regular babysitter. But one night, Al's parents called and the friend couldn't make it.
"She asked if I would go over," Goldberg told Snow. "So I went over, they didn't know me. I was just her friend from school."
The woman who would later advise Linda Tripp to tape Monica Lewinsky said her contact that night with the future VP was brief:
"I just sat in [the Gores'] living room and watched TV. [Little Al] came out and asked for a glass of water, he was about 10, I think. He probably didn't need a babysitter because he had a big sister, but maybe she was out. I got him his glass of water and he went back to bed. That was it."
"It was sort of a weird little evening when you look back," Goldberg recalled.
Shoulda shook him like a British nanny on amphetamines. :)
I've heard this before.
Thanks for the laugh..
So did she confess about how many times she dropped him on his head or what?
But who would have invented the Internet?
Ne zot, doesn't that make her about 100 years old?
When Al Gore was 10, Lucianne Goldberg was about 23, so she probably wouldn't have been either babysitting or attending a private school in D.C. Maybe she is trying to understate the age difference.
Did he shower 3 times a day then? And what hotel was this in?
Koom'ere yoo 'snivlin, little snought-rog! Ere's yoo bloody waw-tah!
So that's how the glass of water was invented?
My mom always said her sister-in-law was poor kin to and sat "little Al" when he was a baby. Once when I visited my kin in Nashville, Tenn, I asked my cousins if this was true. They said that, yes, it was true, their mom did set "Little Al".
The whole Nashville family knew about it. They also all voted for Bush .
Maybe Lucianne is the one who sang the "Look for the Union Label" song to him. Only she doesn't remember it, and it wasn't composed until many years later.
Too bad she didn't beat him senseless.
Or maybe she did....
He hadn't invented iced tea at that point.
LOL...beat me to it!
And what about Dingell Norwood? WTF about Dingell Norwood?!?
I was surprised no one had posted it yet!
Not sure exactly what you are getting at. In any case, if this really occurred, it probably was in a hotel since Gore's family lived in the Fairfax Hotel in DC.
