As is their Practice in every way... Little Saigon CA's Vietnamese-Americans... are giving back to those who fought... for their Freedom in South Vietnam...
and to those who... welcomed them to their own South Asia shores, when Freedom eventually fell, after America had abandoned the South... to its fate at the hands of... invading Communist Bullies from the North.
In just 3 1/2 weeks after the Tsunami Strikes on those same South Asia Shores last Christimas... Little Saigon CA raised over... $830,000 in Tsunami Relief. A week later it went over $1.3 Million in Tsunami Relief.
A now passed on Gen. WESTMORELAND sacrificed much on behalf of the Freedom of others in South Vietnam.
T'was certainly a Holy Mission.
Free Vietnamese-Americans here understand this most of all.

'Vietnamese Veterans Honor Gen. WESTMORELAND as a Hero' *
* Los Angeles Times Print Edition Article Title
AMEN.
I have to tell you frankly that when I served in Vietnam ('72), General Westmoreland was not very well regarded. He was seen as a "political" general in the mould of Maxwell Taylor (and subsequently), Alexander Haig, Colin Powell and Hugh Shelton. He certainly deserves respect for his service in the Airborne in WWII. To me he will always be something of a victim, Lyndon Johnson's spear catcher, the guy who was left to make the optimistic statements that were always "overcome by events". He was the subject of ridicule by the MSM, and he received absolutely no support from the Robert Strange MacNamaras and the Clark Cliffords who were only too happy to let "Westy" take the shots for bone-headed policies and strategies that emanated from the SECDEF's office.
"You gave your best efforts. By virtue of Vietnam, together we held the line for many years and stopped the dominoes from falling. You are and always will be ...a courageous and dedicated soldier." .
