You should have filed a sexual harrassment complaint on day one.

Imagine the prof was a hetero male and the writer was female.
This would be front page news. NOW would be holding rallies. There would be a candlelight vigil on campus.

And if the libs get their way, these could be the first words out your drill instructor's mouth, or your scoutmaster's mouth.
At least with the scoutmaster, you can flee.

The author really needs to grow a pair and get more on his game.
If he didn't like the way he was treated in class, drop the class. If he wasn't quick witted enough, he should have expanded his knowledge base and quickened his response time.
If a professor asked who I "f*cked" last weekend, I wouldn't hesitate to tell him it was none of his 'f*cking' business.
This column comes across as a protracted whine. We won't score points with spokespeople like this.

My name is Michael Vocino and I like dick. I never understood the mentality of people who do this. Why would I give two hoots what you do with your genitalia?
Would they introduce themselves by saying, "Hi my name is Michael Vocino and I fold the toilet tissue before wiping."?
It just seems so odd that they would think that I would even care.
PS In class discussions of a personal nature I always said, "No comment."

Imagine for a second that the student in question was one of two black students in class and the professor was making racist comments or ridiculing the two strictly because of their race.
I wonder if the university would need an official complaint to do something about the prof then?

It is extremely important that you read this article in its entirety. Then, everyone you know who may be thinking of attending a university, sending their child or grandchild to a university should read it.
I can't say a word, the article says enough.
Except this: Do you think this university and this professor are unusual?
Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist.

[3] The column in question can be located at http://www.ramcigar.com/media/paper366/news/2005/04/07/Editorialopinion/Common.Sense.The.Right.Mindset-916257.shtml. Professor JohnA rather unfortunate name for the student paper's website, given the story.
BTW, with students tape recording lectures in nearly every university classroom, why didn't it occur to this guy to do likewise?

This reminds me of a picture I took when Fred Phelps came to town. The 13 Phelps protesters were met by about 50 counter protesters. While I'm not sure how long I'll keep this photo up, here's a picture of three of the counter protesters. Notice the guy on the left is wearing a shirt that says "I [love] Dick".
Click here for a larger picture. It grieves my heart when I see kids caught up in a lifestyle that can kill them. And yet many folks cheer them on...
The message that ex-gays exist and their numbers are growing needs to be shouted from the rooftops.

Sounds like continuous sexual harassment of a student to me.

I would always respond that I wished to refrain from sex and/or sexual intimacy until marriage because such relations were Gods gift to marriage. My explanations were always received by Professor Vocino with a derogatory smile. Pleased to meet you. Hope you guessed my name.

I am shocked he lasted that long in class. I had a philosophy professor who told us on the first day that we had to buy a different textbook....the one wrote and that we would not be learning the basics, but concentrating on only black philosophers. I dropped the class the same day.

Color me befuddled but academia really seems to be slipping on the requirement of obligatory qualifications because it would appear that, like Ward Churchill, "Professor" Vocino hasn't quite gotten around to completing his doctorate. His resume lists him as a candidate for a Ph.D. It used to be no tickee, no shirtee. That being that, how does a Vocino get tenure without a ticket (Ph.D)? We only presume tenure because of his brazeness in touting Queer Politics.
