Israel threatens massive assault

ISRAEL has threatened a massive ground offensive into the Gaza Strip should Palestinian militants open fire on soldiers or settlers during next month's pullout from the occupied territory.
Such an assault, similar to March 2002's Operation Defensive Shield, which saw troops re-occupy most of the West Bank after numerous suicide bombings, would delay the historic withdrawal by up to two weeks, deputy defence minister Zeev Boim said.
"In the case of fire, we will stop the pullout and strike a big blow in an operation at division level," Boim told public radio.
Senior Israeli military officials have repeatedly warned that the army will reoccupy Palestinian towns in the Gaza Strip should militants open fire, in order to protect the troops dismantling all 21 settlements.
"In the worst scenario, I believe such an operation of the magnitude of Operation Defensive Shield would last 10 days to two weeks, time to strike a massive blow in order to finish with terrorism," said Boim.
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has frequently warned that he will not permit Israel's first withdrawal from Palestinian territory to take place under fire.
While the Palestinian Authority has pledged to ensure the operation takes place free of violence, Israel is not convinced that Gaza-based militants will be able to resist a final opportunity to target soldiers and settlers.

Oh I dont know, ,, the bloodthirsty members of the religion of peace might just be able to hold back the firefight till the last Jew steps back into Israeli territory.
Then look out! The bullets rockets and bombs will fly!

The most damage done to an enemy is done to an enemy while in retreat.
They have decided to retreat, stfu and retreat.
It matters if they fire while you are running, or the next week...? Hamas will be firing directly into Tel Aviv in a month from their new missile sites in Gaza anyhow.
What a joke, start handing out rafts and inner tubes to the civilians, they will most likely need them within the year.

And as soon as it happens, the USA, Europe, and the UN will be rushing to demand an end to Israeli aggression and aid for the Palestinians. . .

I have an even better idea. Transfer the Arabs out of all of Israel and let the country be Jewish in its entirety. As offensive as that is to modern sensibilities, it makes much for sense than sending in the Israeli military to evict Jews from their homes whle blustering about a "massive strike" against Arabs who interfere. What good is evacuating Gaza and Samaria going to do when the rest of the world is only going to seethe against Israel for "colonizing" Jerusalem?
First the Temple Mount. That is the key to the entire Land. Then Jerusalem and the rest of the country will follow.

I heard that the IDF had already gridded Gaza Palistinian areas. If a rocket launch is detected from an area, the whole area would be subject to counter battery (innocent Palistinian civilians be damned). I don't think the IDF is screwing around either.

The Palestinians will put their rockets in the middle of dense population centers...so they can show the blasted homes and dead civilians to the media.
Which of course will lead to more rhetoric from the usual sources.

Thank God for someone in Israel with strength of mind and purpose. I hope the US keeps its nose and verbiage out of the deal. We have done enough damage there.

I am an orange, anti withdrawel kind of guy, but Sharon has been my hero for a long time and I want to cling to the hope he has something clever up his sleeve( then again I might be better off waiting for Gadot).
But why for heavens sake if the homes have to be evacuated for security reasons etc. , why cant they keep elie sinai which is on the border and not isolated?
Its a pity they did not throw out the enemy Arabs years ago when they had the chance.
Just look at the non Muslim minority throughout the Muslim world for what will happen to the Israelis-
Constantinople- native Greeks largely expelled.
Pakistan-hindus and Sikhs gone for their own protection.
Iraq -native Assyrian and Chaldean Christians (genetically different stock from the Arabs) persecuted and largely gone.
Syria/Lebanon-former Christian majorities persecuted and now a minority
Egypt- coptic christians- the real Egyptians reduced to persecuted dhimmtude and now minority.
Kosovo- muslim albanians popping out babies to become majority. think about that one secular Israelis when you complain about the religious Jews- they are the Delta Force in the demographic war.

You haven't seen the threads about the current spat between Israel and the Vatican have you?
An official Vatican release just made this observation: "the attacks on Israel were sometimes followed by immediate Israeli reactions not always compatible with the norms of international law ... It would thus be impossible to condemn the [terrorist operations] and pass over the [Israeli retaliation] in silence"."
Now most people don't have a hard time differentiating between a terrorist who straps explosives on then detonates themselves in the middle of innocent victims and soldiers who bulldoze the home of that murdering terrorist.
Believe it or not, some of the "faithful" went on to claim that there is no difference between those same terrorists and a common criminal in this country. "Israel has in the post bulldozed the homes of relatives of terrorists--sort of like the FBI blowing up your house and throwing you out on the street if your uncle is a Mafioso."

The Jews should have had the entire state of Israel from the beginning, for Jordan was intended to be the Palestinian state. Now the Palestinians are in Jordan and want more and more of tiny Israel. The Jewish people need to factor in more trouble, because it is not going to end now, for the Palestinians think that they have gained by their intifada. They think that Sharon is on the retreat.
So expect more trouble.
