How many bombs must hit New York before the U.S. media will learn to differentiate terrorists from normal people?

MOSCOW. (RIA Novosti political commentator Pyotr Romanov.) I am surprised that it sometimes takes my colleagues a long time to realize that they now live in a different world, a world suffering from international terrorism.
Moreover, in this world there is no difference between a "good" terrorist and a "bad" terrorist: All terrorists are bad and alien. Their hands are smeared with the blood of innocent victims. As a matter of fact, I have written about this repeatedly.
ABC, which apparently preaches freedom of speech, has given airtime to the most notorious Chechen terrorist, Shamil Basayev, who has even been blacklisted by the UN. Basayev admits complicity in bloody terrorist acts on Russian territory, including the murder of children.
The Russian Foreign Ministry will, of course, make a corresponding statement to its US colleagues. I myself want to ask my US counterparts whether they smelled drops of blood and dead human flesh while broadcasting Basayev's statements. It seems that Thomas Jefferson, one of U.S. democracy's founding fathers, had every reason to complain in old age that the vessel of freedom of the press could be filled with anything, even dirt.
Do ABC journalists dislike Russians and the Russian government? That is their problem. But do they like their fellow Americans who were killed in the horrendous terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001? Do they like the British citizens who died as a result of the bombing of the London Underground? And what about those killed in Spain and Egypt? Or do my colleagues still naively think that Chechens alone are fighting in Chechnya? I would like to tell them that foreign mercenaries have already outnumbered Chechen terrorists in the Caucasus.
Terrorists seized a school in Beslan last year. Many children were killed then.. There were two British subjects in the group. The terrorists were subsequently killed by the Russian special forces. It seems that London would have been rocked by additional bomb blasts if they managed to escape. Or they might have staged a terrorist attack in the United States.
I find it hard to imagine that my U.S. colleagues planned to achieve some goals other than to raise their channel's ratings when they gave airtime to Basayev.
They became famous, if that was their intention. But any other terrorist act on the part of Basayev will make them his accomplices.
Finally, the anti-terrorist coalition has once again displayed its inefficiency and a commitment to double standards. However, it is impossible to win the war against terrorism in such a way.
Sadly, many, many bombs, or one REALLY big one.
Not sure. ...But they sure loved the Soviet gov't.
At least another 5,000 Americans will have to be murdered before the country tells the ACLU to stuff it and starts taking the Muslim threat seriously. Sadly.
Have to agree. ABC has jumped the shark, what's next
Interview with Osama at 8?
Only ONE! NYT, LAT, ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, ---any headquarters of any of these will change their wimp attitudes overnite!
It only takes one abortion clinic bombing for the MSM to describe it as a terrorist attack by right-wing Christian fundamentalists. Most of the U.S. could be wiped off the planet by Muslims and the remaining press would describe it them as 'insurgents' and focus on blaming Bush for the attacks.
I hope this person knows that ABC disgusts us as much or more than it disgusts him. Stuff CBS, NBC, MSNBC and CNN in that same category. And then there's our major papers...
Answer: One more than the number at the time of any editorializing.

Can you imagine how furious we'd be if a Russian news agency broadcasted that interview?
Russian anger at ABC is completely justified. I just hope the Russian people don't blame the American gov't/people for it.
bttt
That would be one way to solve the bias in the media problem!
I think you are correct. The left will not wake up until one of their institutions gets leveled. The common folk can die under a nuke cloud and they wouldn't care but one small fire bomb at the NARAL headquarters and you would think civilization was ending.
Every cloud has a silver lining...
All of 'em. And that still wouldn't do the trick because they MUST find fault elsewhere and not the Terrorists themselves. Why? Because in their warped Liberal minds this belief gives them a sense of control, they believe they can control the Presidency, or American politics in general, they believe they can control American thinking and thus Terrorism. If they can change the attitude within to a mindset of appeasement then they believe it will change the Terrorists mindset of violence as well. BUT Terrorists are outside their control, they know that, and so this is too frightening for them. Liberal thinkers want, MUST CONTROL and if they can't do that they self-distruct since their bubble of safety is compromised. Either that or they are just plain nuts. ;-)
...150,000,000 would Never change the 'ACLU' Soviet Charter.....Communist-habits-NEVER-change.....really?
/sarcasm's Soviet history maraches ON.....?
They didn't become famous, they became notorious, just like the terrorists. We here in the US have long recognized that our media does not want what is best for this country, or for the world. They have their own agenda and much like the terrorists are willing to destroy this country if they don't get their way.
Most of the world's media, including our own, is praying for America to be devestated by another attack.
