A range of clothing emblazoned with slogans promoting virginity until marriage is set to make its founder a millionaire.
Wait Wear, an American company that sells to Britain over the internet, features £8 pants with "No vows, no sex" printed on the front, and £14 T-shirts bearing the phrase "No trespassing on this property: my father is watching", or the simple "I'm saving it!". The clothing is so popular that Wait Wear's founder and director, Yvette Thomas, expects turnover of more than £1 million this year - 250 times up on 2004.
"The response has been overwhelming," said Miss Thomas, a 39-year-old unmarried mother of three who became sexually active at 15. "When you become sexually involved outside marriage it clouds your thinking, and prevents you from seeing individuals for who they really are."
Despite her past, Miss Thomas insists that abstinence is "in alignment with God's laws". Six years ago she saw the error of her ways and says she has been celibate ever since.
Last year more than 400 British adolescents signed up to the American abstinence movement, The Silver Ring Thing, whose members wear a silver ring as a symbol of chastity.
She should be commended for this.
Pro-family values, abstinence ping.
LOL. What does the man wear?
She should be commended for this.
Most definitely.
Ummm... what's the point of printing "I'm saving it!" on your underwear?
If you are committed to saving it, exactly who is the message for since nobody else should see it?
I think she should too, but I do have to admit that I had a great belly laugh when it covered her marriage status and the fact that she has three children.
One other thing occured to me though. Why would you put that writing across panties if the idea is to remain celebate. Is this another, oh that isn't really sex moment?
That is the men's version.
No kidding. I wouldn't wear those.
I'm afraid I have absolutely NO frame of reference.
later pingout.
And It's Worth it!!!
Sorta get it. Girls wear the tanks. Guys wear the underwear. Why not both guys & girls wear the tanks?
LOL good grief.
GOOD FOR HER!!!!
The more you spread yourself around, the less prized you are.
High mileage takes its toll.
The girls have their own versions of abstinance draws. Still, exactly who is supposed to be getting the message?
Oh yes. contrary to popular belief, most men are turned off by girls who've been around the block too many times. The doublestandards and hypocrisy is amazing but it is what it is.
Uhhhh...Pink Men's briefs????
Besides, I don't think that the "flap" is aligned "properly".
Meanwhile, women seem to run like hell from any man who hasn't slept around.
Where do they wear the ring, and does it have a key?
