Iran: Europe Proposes Nonaggression Pact

TEHRAN, Iran -- Iran's top nuclear negotiator said his European counterparts have proposed a guarantee that Iran will not be invaded if Tehran agrees to permanently halt uranium enrichment, the state-run news agency said Sunday.
Hasan Rowhani said the proposal is being discussed by Europeans and includes several important points such as "guarantees about Iran's integrity, independence, national sovereignty" and "nonaggression toward Iran," the Islamic Republic News Agency said Sunday.
"If Europe enjoys a serious political will about Iran's nuclear fuel cycle, there will be the possibility of understanding," the agency quoted Rowhani as saying in a letter to outgoing Iranian president Mohammad Khatami.
Iran has been negotiating with France, Britain and Germany, who are acting on behalf of the 25-member European Union.
A senior European diplomat accredited to the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency who is familiar with the talks confirmed that the Europeans were offering the Iranians "security guarantees," but the diplomat said no country could give "a 100 percent guarantee" to another country that it would not be invaded.

"Nonaggression pact"... sounds familiar for some reason...
Holy shades of Chamberlin!
This must be a joke!
If not are France, Germany and Britain saying that they are prepared to invade Iran?
Do they have the means to do that? Would they be allowed to do that by the UN? If not, have they already decided on an "illegal" action? Will they get parliamentary support in their respective countries for such an action?
And if they are not themselves preparing to invade Iran, does it mean that they are propsing to enter into a defence pact with Iran against third parties?
If this is not either black propaganda from Iran or an April joke (a bit late, but nevertheless) it means that the FO's in the above mentioned European countries are handled by madmen:
Peace in our time.
And if I remember correctly they worked so well in the past...
"Peace in our time!"
Nonaggression Pact is a phrase from the last century that sane governments will never propose again!
The problem with this scenario is that Europe never intended to invade Iran, it was always Iran that intended to invade Europe. So, obviously Iran will not stop making nukes because unlike Europe they have no moral problem burning millions of people to death.
I believe they promised Saddam the same thing.
Nonagression pacts have worked so well in the past to prevent agression.
In return they should promise to get their virtue and vice squads out of Basra.
It will be as successful as the last one!
It boggles the mind to think of the circumstances that would compel France and Germany to invade any country. France, of course, can pistol-whip African natives easily enough, but Germany is so afraid of itself France would have to defend it. And the new EU would never allow GB to involve itself in a war. Well, they're in the worst possible position to make these decisions, and yet they're making them. Good-bye, world!
The Europeans promise not to attack Iran, and the Ayatollahs promise to speed up thier nuclear program so they can incinerate all non-believers.
Ostrich time in the EU, but this time the 'Muslim Nazi's' have nukes.
What about NATO?
I'm sure Iran is very worried about that possibility.
Do they have the means to do that?
No.
Would they be allowed to do that by the UN?
No. Now, if you just change the word IRAN for SERBIA, then you will see the same dynamic.
Did they have the means to do that? - No.
UN approval? Nope.
They just gave Clinton the chance to wag the dog, and he jumped at the chance.
Is this a joke?
