Thank you - now I know why I quit drinking years ago. That also explains to some degree the heartburn I fight so often - if my decades old chemistry serves me correctly.

I attended a seminar in grad school that featured a Native American speaker. He did an excellent job of explaining the fine details of the underlying alcohol metabolism problems in Native Americans.

My wife is 1/4 Cherokee. Our oldest son has no need of a razor...just as observed in many other Native Americans. Her dad was a hopeless alcoholic. My #2 son shares a need to shave in the morning and again in the evening if going out to avoid looking like an unshaven bum. My wife also shares the heartburn problem. Nexium or workalikes help.

(A note for heartburn/ulcer sufferers: Aloe vera Gel is a very good cure/treatment. Cured an ulcer with it (ulcer started as something resembling heartburn). Freepmail me if you want more info on how to do it.)
