UNLESS...
How do you think most families slept until a few centuries ago? Answer: together. For natural spacing to work as God designed it, one sleeps with the baby, and gives no pacifier or solids or supplement bottles (even containing breast milk). Old wives' tales about smothering the baby are just that, assuming responsible drug-free parents--see list below.
IOW all sucking needs must be met at the breast 24/7 and nighttime nursing needs to be on demand. Also 'wearing the baby' is a sling or baby backpack for a portion of the day is recommended.

Above site also lists these:
Contraindications for sleep sharing:
1. Never sleep with your baby if you have been drinking or using drugs!
2. Never put your baby to sleep on a water bed or other soft surface!
3. It is better to have a young baby on the side of mother away from dad, as not all fathers have the benefit of the mothering instincts that keep mom from rolling over on the baby.
4. Smokers should not sleep with babies because the toxins that remain on their skin and clothes have been shown to increase the risk of S.I.D.S..
5. Mothers who are morbidly obese should avoid sleep sharing.
I realize what is described is not attractive for most on the go baby-in-the-nursery type folks. But this total 'lifestyle' works to baby-space and not because Dad and Mom are denied their marital rights. (Just slip off to another bed for sex.)
