Tancredo's MAD plan makes liberals nuts
Newark Star Ledger ^ | 07.26.05 | Paul Mulshine

I often write columns criticizing President Bush for being a typical big-government, inside- the-Beltway politician.

Every time I do, I get an e-mail from some bonehead who concludes that anyone criticizing George W. Bush must be a liberal Democrat.

This is a common misconception and one that Tom Tancredo is straightening out quite nicely. Tancredo is the Colorado congressman who until last week was famous for being the leading advocate of enforcing immigration laws, thus earning a permanent place on the Bush enemies list.

Last week he became famous for something else: Tancredo proposed that we inform the fundamentalist Muslims of the world that if one of our cities is destroyed by a nuclear bomb, we will destroy their holy cities.

Predictably enough, this drove the liberals nuts. And the liberal it drove the nuttiest was the one in the White House. George W. Bush's State Department termed Tancredo's remarks "insulting and offensive to all of us."

The spokesman went on to say, "We unequivocally reject the idea of targeting Mecca or any other civilian or religious site by anyone."

Well, let's think about that a minute. The United States has about 4,500 strategic nuclear warheads. We've got ICBMs, submarines, B-52s, Stealth bombers and numerous other means of delivering them to their targets. And their targets would be mainly cities packed with civilians. That's what deterrence is all about. Any enemy who ponders attacking our cities must confront the thought that his cities will be destroyed as well.

That system of mutual assured destruction is nearly as old as I am. So I for one was not particularly shocked when Tancredo, in response to a question by a talk- radio host, proposed extending it to the current threat.

Pls see # 20 and add your suggestion in the "disappearance " as a more complete strategy than what I had suggested.

I can see these religious fanatics being made to understand that when they and their families disappear, it will be to a cemetary of hell on some undisclosed mountain top where they will be sewed up in pig skins. Thus, they will never get to see and embrace their moon god in the sky, but will instead suffer ignominiously for eternity.

That should get their attention.

The clerics never kill themselves....They motivate the rank and file muslims to be the canon fodder.

Funny how that works.

We should declare any imam that preaches jihad as a terrorist and try him or deport him. The terrorists always have to have the permission of the imam to go jihad. So these imams are just as responsible for actual terrorist incidents.

I suggested the same on 9-12. Only I would target the families of those inciting and the terrorists entire family. Make the line of the terrorists extinct.

I'm fine, it's the writer of this article, paul(impeach Bush)mulshine, who may have to go the doctor and get some meds.

"they and their families disappear"

I would oppose punishing families unless each member being punished was complicit in the crime. Barring that, send their children to Christian orphanages where they can be unindoctrinated from Islamic brainwashing.

You're missing the point. a handful of clerics
and their families, here and there, aren't going
to stop the Jihadi Conquest "Movement", it only
adds to the propaganda used by the likes of the
Muslim Brotherhood, Zawahiri, UBL, Khamenei,
et al...No, the pillars of their mythology must
be shattered, and the illusion that they are
divinely protected "holy Warriors" destroyed
for all eyes across Islam to see...that they are
not increasing the domain of Islam but bringing
destruction upon it, and upon all muslims everywhere.
