Tancredo's MAD plan makes liberals nuts
Newark Star Ledger ^ | 07.26.05 | Paul Mulshine

Posted on 07/29/2005 10:14:47 PM PDT by Coleus

I often write columns criticizing President Bush for being a typical big-government, inside- the-Beltway politician.

Every time I do, I get an e-mail from some bonehead who concludes that anyone criticizing George W. Bush must be a liberal Democrat.

This is a common misconception and one that Tom Tancredo is straightening out quite nicely. Tancredo is the Colorado congressman who until last week was famous for being the leading advocate of enforcing immigration laws, thus earning a permanent place on the Bush enemies list.

Last week he became famous for something else: Tancredo proposed that we inform the fundamentalist Muslims of the world that if one of our cities is destroyed by a nuclear bomb, we will destroy their holy cities.

Predictably enough, this drove the liberals nuts. And the liberal it drove the nuttiest was the one in the White House. George W. Bush's State Department termed Tancredo's remarks "insulting and offensive to all of us."

The spokesman went on to say, "We unequivocally reject the idea of targeting Mecca or any other civilian or religious site by anyone."

Well, let's think about that a minute. The United States has about 4,500 strategic nuclear warheads. We've got ICBMs, submarines, B-52s, Stealth bombers and numerous other means of delivering them to their targets. And their targets would be mainly cities packed with civilians. That's what deterrence is all about. Any enemy who ponders attacking our cities must confront the thought that his cities will be destroyed as well.

That system of mutual assured destruction is nearly as old as I am. So I for one was not particularly shocked when Tancredo, in response to a question by a talk- radio host, proposed extending it to the current threat.

Don't expect the liberal in the WH to be logical. He is on his retirement tour, and is only trying to get along with others.

" He is on his retirement tour, and is only trying to get along with others."

I'd be more than happy to provide the golden watch (made in Mexico of course) if he would take an early retirement.

In identifying our enemy not as "terrorists" but as fundamentalist Muslims, Tancredo took a position well to the right of that taken by Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair -- a Labor Party leader who, unlike Bush, does not try to hide his liberal impulses. Both Bush and Blair have stuck to the politically correct but factually incorrect position that only the extremists in the Islamic world see Osama bin Laden as a leader.

The recently released Pew Global Attitudes Survey shows that bin Laden is quite popular in many Muslim countries. About 60 percent of Jordanians and 51 percent of Pakistanis said they have confidence in bin Laden as a leader. Muslims also overwhelmingly identified with their religious identity as opposed to their national identity, the poll showed. So perhaps Tancredo's mutual-assured-destruction scheme would indeed prevent them from considering an attack on American cities.

You gotta admit that this is one crazy war on terrorism that Bush is fighting. He won't defend our borders. He refers to our enemies only in politically correct terms. He refuses to export those who spew venom and inspire attacks against us, and spends more time criticizing minutemen than the enemy.

I absolutely agree with your assessment.
Our dear Leader's position on these matters leaves much to be desired , bordering on disgraceful.
He should be watching the full film footage of the Trade Towers falling everyday . Lest he forgets....

Hell yeah, great post!

Did you hear? They recently renamed the "War on Terror" to the "Struggle against extremism" or some other BS term like that.

To me "War" means you're on the offense.
"Struggle" means you're barely keeping your head above water.

Time to stop this PC nonsense.

Also, you CANNOT fight a so called WOT when your soft underbelly (the border) is exposed!!!

In order to win, every good offense needs a good DEFENSE (borders)

For as much as we criticize the administration, and some of it they do deserve, they have taken the fight to the enemy. Just think of what would have happened if gore or kerry won the election. The president is allowing the soldiers to fight the war. That's what I've heard and I hope it's true. Since the swimmer, hanoi jane and john f@#$!%^ kerry are miffed then I believe that GW is not going to allow the commie politicos to affect policy ala Vietnam.

I wish that they took the border seriously, but I also know that a demoncrat wouldn't be doing it either. We have to put the squeeze on our representatives.

It isn't necessary to "crater" mecca.

All that is necessary is to identify with certainty the Imams and other clerics constructing the muslim killers and then do the following...

One by one simply make them and their immediate families permanently dissapear.

End of Muslim terror on humanity once the message of this strategy gets out to them. The clerics never kill themselves....They motivate the rank and file muslims to be the canon fodder.

I say if it was OK to point those things at the Soviets the same standard should apply to any other nuclear threat, religious sentiments notwithstanding.

paul mulshine, the writer of this article is a loon.

He was on the radio saying Bush should be impeached for the phony plame incident.

No wonder the liberal Newark paper keeps him around.

So I for one was not particularly shocked when Tancredo, in response to a question by a talk- radio host, proposed extending it to the current threat....Exactly...We warned Russia for many years that we could flatten all the major cities there...so whats the problem with warning these camel thumpers of the same consequences?...I'm afraid all the boys in Washington D.C. can't find their balls to defend America...except for a few like Tom who are ridiculed by both sides....

Nuking Mecca should remain on the table, but let's not overlook simpler, cheaper, more politically viable approaches.

We should find and bury the remains of all Islamic terrorists, bury them in an unmarked grave in the mountains of Afghanistan, and desecrate the remains with pig entrails and blood.

The same irrational religious dogma that motivates these murderers would make them fearful of this treatment.

Agree with your "same standards" theme.

However, (and for example), the Bedouins tribes are blamed for the terrible bombings in Egypt last week.....These people live in tents and use camels for transport...No Moscow here to target.

But start making their fanatical religious (pls read cultists)leaders and their families disappear in retribution and these folks will quickly "see the light".

Caliphs, Sheiks, and Imans....the instigators of this inhuman horror... never kill themselves......they want a natural death when they are about 100.
