Allison Ezell, 24-year-old PETA employee (left), and Megan Hoch, 19-year-old PETA member, protest Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Thursday at the intersection of SPID and Staples Street. The circus, in Corpus Christi Aug. 10-14 at American Bank Center, has been accused of abusing animals.

Some friends and I went to a PETA protest last year. We set up a pit grill across the streeet and cooked ribs and brisket. We drew a larger crowd.

Police Capt. Dave Cook, who observed the scene, said he did not arrest Ezell for near nudity because she was not disorderly and didn't significantly disrupt traffic . . .Guess she didn't have a body that stopped traffic . . .

After the protest, O'Brien took Ezell on what he called a "date." Asked about the odd juxtaposition, Ezell said she merely accepted an offer for a free salad. Oh man.
