All four of the suspected would-be London suicide bombers have been rounded up by anti-terror police in London and Italy.
The fourth man was arrested in Rome, an Italian Government minister confirmed. He was described as a Somali man called Osman Hussain who is a naturalised British citizen.
Earlier, two other members of the July 21 gang were arrested in west London.
One of them is believed to be Muktar Said-Ibrahim, 27, who allegedly tried to blow himself up on a number 26 bus in Hackney, east London.
The other is believed to have been responsible for an attempted bombing near Oval Tube station on the same day.
These arrests followed the detention of Yasin Hassan Omar - a 24-year-old Somalian alleged to have tried to set off a bomb on a Tube train near Warren Street - in Birmingham on Wednesday.
One of the armed raids in west London ended in a siege at a flat on an estate owned by the Peabody Trust near Wormwood Scrubs Prison in west London. It is thought the failed Oval bomber was arrested at this address.
The other raid was less than a mile away near upmarket Ladbroke Grove.
Witness Philomena Daly, who lives on the estate in Dalgarno Gardens, said she saw two policemen dressed in blue overalls taking a man in a white forensic suit out of the estate.
Nicolas Holliman, who lives on the 350-property estate, said he had seen four officers with guns and rifles and a specialist firearms officer in a gas mask.
They were focusing on a top-floor flat in one of the blocks on the estate and kept asking for "Mohammed" to come out.
"He was being asked to come out with his hands up, naked or in underclothes," he said. "They were giving directions for him to come out, telling him he would be safe if he puts his hands up."
Mr Holliman said he could tell there was more than one man in the flat by the way police were shouting and there were vocal protests coming from the flat.
After some time, Mr Holliman said he heard several shots which he believed were gas being fired at the flat and then there was silence.
In the other raid less than a mile away, dozens of officers, some wearing gas masks, swooped on the Tavistock Crescent area of Notting Hill, clearing a wide area and cordoning off streets. Snipers were stationed behind parked cars.
During the day there were reports of explosions and gunshots from residents near the raids. But the explosion is thought to have been police blowing the door off a flat and the "shots" were stun grenades or CS gas.
Meanwhile, Two women were arrested at gunpoint at Liverpool Street station in central London on suspicion of terrorism, police confirmed.
The suspects were pinned to the ground in a dramatic swoop on the station concourse, which was evacuated as a suspect package was checked.
Scotland Yard confirmed that the women are in custody, but said it was "too early to say" if they are being detained in connection with the London transport network attacks.

CNN just now 2:20 p.m. EDST broadcasted live the Scotland Yard statement about the arrest this morning.
If one doesn't have cable tv, one must wait until 6:30 p.m. ESDT for NBC,CBS and ABC to get the news if they even think it's worth mentioning.

According to their latest polls, we are losing the war against terrorists and are on the verge of surrendering all major capitals to the terrorists per their demands. The mainstream media will continue to act as go-betweens in these delicate negotiations. The terrorists are further requesting that Ward Churchill speak for all the free people of the world. The latest mainstream media polls say that the majority think that's OK, an unidentified source at MoveOn.org confirmed.

My thoughts for what they are worth.
Who's polling who? I might have heard some squawking about the War in Iraq, but are you saying the majority of the US public as a whole, is disgusted enough and are saying we should cut and run?
Personally I haven't seen the evidence of this on a wholesale level, and I think these British bombings are showing the world and the US just how far and long the tenacles of terrorism reach, and they (radical islam) can come from anywhere in the world and reside next door to you very easily.
The whole point is that polls are not fact but are opinions reported as fact; polls have become nothing more than devices for manipulating opinion to substantiate whatever they want to assert -- because they have nothing substantive to report.
Some media reports are nothing more than the results on the American Idol contest -- and they have no way of distinguishing opinion from fact anymore, useful information from trivia. That's when the downfall of the mainstream media is complete. They've made themselves worthless. And that is my point. One can't distinguish anymore the outrageously bogus from mainstream media reporting.
