The slippery slope that wasn't supposed to happen once same-sex marriage was granted is making Everest jealous.

In Massachusetts this week, Gov. Mitt Romney has been butting heads with same-sex couples over birth certificates for their newborns. I'll give you a minute to wrap your mind around that concept.

Here's a question: if there is depression or sense of rejection that an adopted child has until he/she contacts his/her birth parents (not all want to, but a lot do), why shouldn't this situation have some similarity? Even if the child of a same sex couple feels loved and well cared for, won't there also be a similar incidence of depression or rejection?

How unPC will it be when the child grows older and really has to challenge his/her same sex parents that he/she wants to know the other biological parent?

I wonder if the focus will not be to support the child to make sure that he/she gathers the information needed to feel whole, but instead to protect the feelings of the same sex parents?

I just wonder who gives the mother daughter talks or the dad to son ones? :)

Birds and the bees should be quite interesting, not to mention the razzing and/or ass-whippings the kid gets if he/she is in a conservative area.

No kidding.

I read that Rosie O'Donnell got mad at her wife after breast feeding their baby. She was jealous of the bonding and made her start bottle feeding after 1 month.

But you're right, it would be grounds for annihilation if the child dared to think/say anything that didn't represent liberal groupthink.

""Thing" is used here neither dismissively nor derisively, but as a term of stunning accuracy. Throughout our culture, children have become objectified, "thingified," created or acquired for the fulfillment of our selves — decor options, accessories, cute little bundles for our entertainment and amusement.

Unless, of course, we're not in the mood, in which case we hit the "abort" button, the ultimate expression of "thingification.""

- A very powerful statement. </A big round of applause for the author>
