My favorite(?) commie lyric:

Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more.

"I'd Love to Change the World" was sung sarcastically.

I've always been more concerned with another lyric of the era:

"Baby I'll be there to take your hand, baby I'll be there to share the land. That they'll be giving away when we all live together."

"Tax the rich, feed the poor

Ten Years After, right?

"tax the rich, feed the poor"

Ten years After

I'd Love To change the World

from A Space in Time.

Good album. Great performance of "Goin Home" at Woodstock.

(I call 'em like I see 'em)

Haha! But they sing with such sincerity!

You know, I can understand why Democratic Socialism might be attractive to some people. I understand why Libertarian Anarchy might be attractive to some people. But I have NEVER understood just what communists have to offer anyone but themselves.

Exactly:

I'd love to change the world / but I don't know what to do / so I'll leave it up to you...

Read the first and second stanza of the song.
Alvin Lee was criticized for being right wing because the opening of the song speaks of moral decay and wealth confiscating taxation. Hardly communist sentiments in 1971

I'd Love to Change the World
Ten Years After

Everywhere is
Freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies
Tell me where is the sanity

Tax the rich
Feed the poor
Till there are no
Rich no more

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Population
Keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding

Still more feeding economy

Life is funny
Skies are sunny
Bees make honey
Who needs money, monopoly

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Oh yeah

World pollution
There's no solution
Institution
Electrocution
Just black or white
Rich or poor
Them and us
Stop the war

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
