"American politicians are at war with America"

Yup and they are winning, the sad fact is we can no longer afford even the small military we have today, plans are to cut naval, army and AF back even further.

Nor can we afford to adequately fund our space program or hundred of other RD projects, meanwhile the Chicoms are rolling in money and building the armed forces needed to kick our butts.

"You have to wonder what in the hell the Bush White House thinks it's doing"

They know what they are doing, they are integrating the usa into a global one world government, thier hope is that China will join too. tjhere is no other explaination.

"Your FReepname suggests an association with the 'Bouncing Billy B' ... were you on SSN-680?"

Yes I was a plank owner and served with Al for 4 years. He was the Engineering Boss. He is/was a great guy. Very approachable on-board and ashore. I'll bet he was a great CO as well.

"Vernon Clark deserves our pity, not contempt"

Why did he not resign or go public in protest?

Hell, I had one moron here on FR tell me that China was "not really communist".

That's disgusting...

Konetzni said that the US has fewer submarines in the Pacific than it has needed, even with the stationing of additional subs in Guam at the end of the 20th century.

Then I suggest that keeping bases like New London open, and stationing subs there 12,000 miles away from China isn't going to help.

While I may agree, then what about Iran? Proliferation runs both ways, you know?

"There are many people who don't think China is a threat, despite their numerous and recent threats to nuke our cities. Hell, I had one moron here on FR tell me that China was "not really communist"."

They know damn well they're a threat but don't want to upset the applecart. A few years down the road they'll (whoever is running the current government scam) say "who knew?" and scramble to re-arm. The eternal show goes on.

Oh, I suppose we'd have to mouth a few protests about Taiwan going nuclear, pro forma.

But nobody but the Red Chinese (and I guess the NK, if they had something to bomb) would really care about a nuclear Chinese.

Heck, Japan would probably fund it, so they don't have to do it.

You were slightly after my time; I was a plank-owning RO on Seahorse SSN-669 (after 3 other boats) before going to shore duty in Pearl and getting out in 1973.

I'm an ex-Viking driver. Generally speaking, the best antisub weapon is another sub.

You jes' don' unnerstan', Paul. Whassamatta you?

All those Chinese peasants will be SO happy to be rich, working in factories, and SO busy buying zillions of US products (if any are still made here) and paying off their MasterCards and mortgages on the 3BR/2BA/FR/DR/LR/AC-homes that they won't have any interest whatsoever in joining some military effort.

See? Peace through Materialism!!!

I suspect that the best definition of PRChina is "Fascist." Industry, Government, and Military are all of a piece.

They still want to be #1 in power and influence worldwide, however, meaning that they want the USA out of the way.
