I just got the following release from the family support group leader of 2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry (my old unit). These four brave men were my friends. Please pray for their families in their time of mourning, and pray for victory, that their deaths will not be in vain.
These soldiers are from Alpha Company, 2-121st Infantry Regiment. They were killed on 24 July 2005 in Baghdad, Iraq when an IED detonated near their Humvee while on patrol.
SPC Jacques (Gus) Earl Brunson, age 30, from Americus, Georgia.
SSG Carl Ray Fuller, age 44, from Covington, Georgia.
SGT James Ondra Kinlow, age 35, from Thomson, Georgia.
SGT John Frank Thomas, age 33, from Valdosta, Georgia.
Ping.
I failed to add from the original release:
We honor the ultimate sacrifice paid by these brave men and join their family and friends in their sorrow. Please keep these families in your prayers. We will let everyone know when these families are ready to be contacted.
In the meantime, we will honor the privacy of all families concerned and will ask that you not attempt to contact any of them at this point. Again, we will let you all know when these families are ready to receive condolences and will provide their addresses and funeral arrangements once these arrangements are known. Thank you for honoring this request.
May these heroes rest in peace. Prayers for them and their families.
Thanks. These guys were my friends. I was the XO for A/2-121 IN when we were in Bosnia.
Thanks to this group of heroes for courageous service to our country. We shall be ever grateful for their sacrifices. May God bless their families and loved ones.
I am sorry you lost your firends. God Bless them and their families and may our eventual victory ALWAYS be cognizant of the price that they paid.
They were good guys...I'm going to miss them.
Ping, from me, formerly Tragically Single.
Please write letters to their families and talk about those guys and all your memories and admiration for them. If they have children, those letters will be SO valuable and precious in the years ahead. I speak from experience.
I will do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Prayers for all!
I am so sorry for the loss of your friends. May God bless their families and you, too.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
Thanks for the prayers.
It means a lot.
MAY every US Army Soldier/Marine who servs in Iraq, Afghanistan & elsewhere, may they All just find their Hope and their Strength in the Shadow of Your Mighty, Healing Wings...
May Your Peace & Your Will be Perfect in their Lives & in their Hearts. For there is no Other Name by which we are Saved from Our sins & this Corrupted flesh.
And may all those Who die in The Lord's Will be wonderful roles to the unsaved to come to Your Wonderful, Loving ARMS, O Father.
Prayers for all of them. How sad and tragic.
Their loss is our loss, albeit on a much less personal level, because what they were doing is for everything that we hold dear as Americans and free people. Our hearts break because they were someone's son, husband, daddy, brother, relative, and friend, and they were heroes every one, just as is everyone who chooses to serve. God bless them.
Giving thanks for their lives of service to our country, and asking God to surround their families and friends with His providential care, and comfort them beneath His sheltering wing.
Prayers.
I'm sorry for your loss. Prayers for the families.
trussell - Prayer ping.
Thanks Tulip. This makes five of my personal friends that have given their lives in the service of freedom.
