Believe it or not, I actually had great representation in the state house when I was in Miami (State Senator Rudy Garcia and State Rep Alex De La Portilla). The main problem with South Florida (Dade/Broward/Palm Beach) occurs at the county and municipal level. Art Teele was no exception.

No, I think he was GOP for a very long time. He served in the Reagan administration. Also, remember that in Dade county politics one does not need to be nominated by a party to run for office. So there still would have been no need for him to change to GOP if he was a dem to begin with. But like I said, he was a GOP from way back in the Reagan administration.
