Nailed It!

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately on  my page.

Besides this one, I keep separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card, and occasionally for David Warren and Lee Harris. You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about).

Bravo, Christopher Hitchens!

He may be a lefty on a number of issues, but he's got this one absolutely right. You cannot negotiate with someone who is dedicated to your destruction.

I just wish every western government saw this issue as clearly as he does.

As always, Christopher Hitchens speaks real truths. The man is not only one of the most gifted writers of our time, but one of the wisest of all those who write. I applaud vigorously the words he has written about the Islamic terrorists. The cowards of our time tremble at the very mention of jihadists, but I have no fear of the cowardly bastards! I stand with Sir Christopher.

The grievance of the existence, not of the State of Israel, but of the Jewish people.

That why are you so pro-"Palestinian" and anti-Israel, Chris?

States that shelter them will know no peace.

How about the new Hamasistain in Gaza, Chris?

All of these have been proclaimed as a license to kill infidels or apostates, or anyone who just gets in the way.

I am surprised Hitchens doesn't get it.

It is not about grievances. It is about doing what God(Allah) wants done.

He should take the time to read the Koran. - Tom

I bet London Transport runs again rather sooner than US airlines resumed flying after 9/11.

I'll bet they go through a lot fewer caskets, pints of blood, devastated fire departments, and occupied hospital beds.

FOR a few moments yesterday, Londoners received a taste of what life is like for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan, whose Muslim faith does not protect them from slaughter at the hands of those who think they are not Muslim enough, or are the wrong Muslim.

It is a big mistake to believe this is an assault on "our" values or "our" way of life. It is, rather, an assault on all civilisation. I know perfectly well there are people thinking, and even saying, that Tony Blair brought this upon us by his alliance with George Bush.

A word of advice to them: try and keep it down, will you? Or wait at least until the funerals are over. And beware of the non-sequitur: you can be as opposed to the Iraq operation as much as you like, but you can't get from that "grievance" to the detonating of explosives at rush hour on London buses and tubes.

Don't even try to connect the two. By George Galloway's logic, British squaddies in Iraq are the root cause of dead bodies at home. How can anyone bear to be so wicked and stupid? How can anyone bear to act as a megaphone for psychotic killers?

Bravo Christopher Hitchens! If only those on the left would listen. Unfortunately they are determined to get as many as possible of us killed!

“States that shelter them will know no peace.”

Go a step further.

Governments of nations that do not make sufficient effort to prevent their citizens from engaging in terrorists activities upon other nations will be considered silent participants to the terrorist activities, and as such participating in covert acts of war.

Nations suffering harm from such covert acts of war may take any and all actions, including war itself, to stop these nations, and the governments of these terrorist nations from further participation in the covert war.

If anyone thinks I am wrong in taking this approach, be very mindful these terrorists are originating from some of the most intolerant governments the world has known, and the permissive participation of their citizens in covert acts of war can only be achieved with the collaborative acceptance of these governments.

Hitch is one of those rare individuals on the left who have understood this from the very beginning.

States that shelter them will know no peace.

Unless you're Iran or Syria or Saudi Arabia or Egypt or...

Nice sentiments. Maybe I'm jaded, but Mr. Hitchens is going to discover that the passion to do something about this will burn off eventually and Iran will have the ability to incinerate London when it's too late.

Stupendous! Thanks a million for finding and posting this! I sometimes disagree intensely with Hitchens, but he's on the mark with this one, and I love it when he says with such confidence that since appeasement really isn't even possible with these vermin, that's one of the many reasons for which global islamification will fail.

As my friend, Barbara J. Stocks says, "Evil can win if good men do nothing." So, we all need to pull together to defeat this 1,400 year old monster.

We in our generation of Americans have been chosen by Providence, to complete its eradication from the face of the earth. Only complete extinction will suffice.

Thanks again for this post!

I find it very helpful to read people like Hitch to counter the steady drivel spewed out by the MSM on the subject of fighting terrorism. There are good writers out there, you just have to find them. For fine reporting on Iraq - and excellent photos - read Michael Yon if you haven't already. He's an independent journalist who does a terrific job of capturing what daily life is like for the soldiers and what is really going on with the "insurgency". It's not what you're hearing on TV.

My American friends have been impressed by the composure of the Londoners they have seen on the screen: I bet London Transport runs again rather sooner than US airlines resumed flying after 9/11.

I saw that "composure" as a sign that Londoners have accepted it as their fate to be terrorist victims. The terrorists saw it the same way and hit them again two weeks later.

It seems ironic that this was written by a man who quite proudly boasted of his Marxist affiliations and studies when he was at Oxford.
Now he is faced with a group who wish to change the Country according to the will of Allah and not Karl
